Home Depot is a bad joke

I don't like going to the hydro stores. They stock their coco products right next to all the organic potting mixes, etc. Crawling with mites/gnats. I boil the water before I expand blacks when I do go there to get some. The only thing I ever go there for is coco these days.

thats how this thread started...i ORDERED coco from home depot...that they don't have to ship out, even though they have it on sale right now...
so apparently you don't order your shit from them, or it wouldn't all come to you...
No, I don't order from them. I use build a soil for most of my purchases. A lil pricey, but I'm usually happy with their products and service, so makes it worth it for me.

I hear ya. I find such variation on the quality of coco coir, from various suppliers/batches. I have put a lot of work into my coco prep because of that. Hydrate completely with aloe, sift out small stuff/dust, buffer with pond water, OSF and EWC. I often see up to half of the coir is just dust. That said, I do the exact same thing with peat. I'm a fucking masochist.

Now, this stuff however, is top notch:
Conibo Organics Fine Grade Coconut Coir 50L - BuildASoil

That does look like some good stuff. Shipping might suck depending on where you live but they're local to me. My recroom is full of stuff from BAS. I see they've got a Black Friday sale going on already too.

i've been growing in coco hempy buckets for years. a couple of years ago, i ordered some coco from home depot. it came quickly, was a good product, no problems. i ordered again recently, and the coco that came was unusable, it had to have been scraped up off of the bottom of the pile, it was hard packed fines that refused to rehydrate, and stayed in chunks the size of my thumb until manually crushed...i hoped that it was a one time occurence, ordered a different brand, same fucking thing...so i bought it from amazon for quite a while. i just noticed that they had viagrow coco on sale for a good price at home depot, so being the fucking masochist that i am, i ordered from them again, hoping that it being a different brand would make a difference....and it might, if i could ever get the fucking shit...it's on back order. why is it ok for stores to say they have something they don't have? why the fuck would they do that? do they want to piss a lot of people off? because that seems to be the result of their recent business practices. i think that i'm going to start boycotting home depot, they have shitty politics, anyway.
I’ve needed a small engine for a big log splitter here. Alaska so everything has to be shipped. Wal Mart is advertising regularly on Facebook for small engines. They don’t have a single engine they advertise. Not one and this is the online operation. Again not a single engine they’ve advertised is in stock or even available to ship. I think these larger operations are freaking out at the loss of in-store sales while online ordering is out of sight. They want a piece of it. They just obviously have no real clue how to go about it. It’s maddening as hell.

last winter the power went out here for almost a week. i went to buy a generator, and harbor freight, walmart, Sams, home depot, lowes...all sold the fuck out...i went to stores 30 miles away, sold out...they all said "we have more coming, check back tomorrow"...for three days...ended up catching a truck unloading them at a Sam's 45 miles away and snagged it as soon as it came in the back door...
but a shit load of generators could have been sold, IF they had them to sell...this entire bare minimum invested in stock idea may be good for retailers, but its fucking horseshit for consumers.

SOOO you lost power from a big storm then went shopping for a Generator like 1000s of other folks. An your upset you couldn't get one? We lose power here often when temps are below freezing need to be prepped or shit outa luck. Stores dont stock lots of big ticket Generators because they dont sell until the big one hits then its to late for most folk.

Sounds familiar- I can sure relate from here. Survival of the fittest and welcome to the 21st century.. times have changed, no? Not to mention most attitudes

LOWES
Lower prices better service every time
I prefer Lowes over Home Depot but it's not because of better service. I've had some bad experiences with Home Depot employees. So bad that one punk got a little testy with me so I had to school him right fast in front of a bunch of customers. I'm not going to lie. I enjoyed doing it. After the impromptu class he glared at me with hate in his eyes. I told him that I knew he wanted to hit me so take your best shot. Looked him directly in the eyes and said "Let's Go". He ran away from me so fast he almost came out of his shoes.

All I know is that regardless of which store I go to there is always a line at the one cash register they have open while a half dozen other employees are just standing around chatting while the other registers are all closed. I've gone up to them and asked why there were ten people waiting in line, only one cash register open, and you guys standing here doing absolutely nothing. They never open another cash register but they all usually scatter after I confront them so at least I don't have to look at them while I'm waiting in line annoyed because all the cash registers are closed and only one of the self service units is working.

I understand that the pay isn't all that great but if you take the job you should do it as best you can. None of this complaining all day while you do as little as possible. No work ethic these days. Poor management is also part of the problem. They're supposed to make sure the store runs smoothly and the employees are working and they can't do that.

I sound critical because I am. It just drives me crazy the laziness I see so often from employees. Instead of complaining about your job just do it or find another one if it's so bad.
