If you're looking at growing another crop to make the money, especially in time, then you may as well just run off into the woods and live there. It is about the same risk and your in alabama, you guys dont even really have winter. Get a friend to drop you off way the fuck in the middle of nowhere with some survival supplies, mostly devoted to getting food. There isnt really a winter there, so its not like you really need to be able to preserve food, but its always a good idea to have some way of preserving food. A good set of pots and pans is also a must, if for nothing more than boiling water.
In short, I wish you luck on your grand adventure into the unknown! Personally, I have always wanted to leave society and live in the forest! You could even bring along a bagful of seeds and grow some to smoke, just be sure ur in the middle of no where, and dont expect it to be very good. Avoid large open areas, and grow just a bunch of it, leave some males even for future crops. Autoflowers would be awesome there I bet. Seeds can be made into flour and baked into bread even! Would be flat bread though.
Just make sure to be no where near here you were dropped off, you would want to hike for a minimum of 5 days before setting up camp. Bring a compass and even a very good map. You will probably be spending the rest of your life here, don't want it decaying after it gets wet once. Well, If you flee the state, the stature (sp?) of limitations gets put on hold, but if you flee into the woods of the same state... I'm not sure.
Good luck!
