thats pretty weak if its a 105 watt with 6200 lumens, i have 4 45 watt cfls i got for 8 bux each they each have 3200 lumens, so theyre more efficient with a higher lumens to watt ratio

^ good point

i mean it makes sense with small grows
you wont need all those lumens with a such a small space..
i guess it just depends on who he's trying to get this information to? haha

so i know some of you are plagued with the expensive prices of hid's but i just found 105 watt cfl with 6200 lumens (substitute for a 400 watt hid), for 23 bucks beats spending $130 on a 400 watt hid. heres the website

Environmental Energy Saver Products, CFL Bulbs, LED Lights, Water Saving Showerheads, go green with 105 Watt High Wattage CFL (400 watt replacement) | E3 Living
That ad is a bunch of crap. That ad pissing me off. They're just trying to get over on stupid people who don't know any better. A 600 watt HPS on a digital ballast should put out around 95000 lumens. That would mean a 400w HID should put out around 55K-60K lumens. You would need around 10 of those cfl's to amount to a 400w HID. CFLs work ok for clones and early stages of veg but if you try to use them for the whole grow you're going to get a small yield and weak plants.

HID's are the most efficient lights so how in the hell can a 105cfl be as good as a 400w HID. Complete BS

ok nomaninsf you can stop being a primadonna now, hid's are better before i posted it i didn't see that 400 watt put out so many lumens i thought it was the same. cruzer101 corrected it so now i'm not misleading anyone. smoke a joint and fucking chill dude

cfl's are gods gift to poor and newb growers alike. i use them for vegging to conserve energy so i can run a hid and all my shit without busting my wallet. they have theyre uses.

I didn't mean to come across as anti-cfl. I use 8 t-5 tubes to keep my mother completely engulfed in light. I just haven't had success getting high yield out of them when I tried using them for flower years back.

Here is a link to the cfl's I use. They're linkable which is nice and for cheap you can buy all kinds of connectors and extensions to link them. They're easy to maneuver and work with. I use zip ties to hang them.
