hi everyone I am having a bit of a quandary about what to do and I really hope one of you guys has some good advice. I have flood and drain hydroponics running as well as some soil grows, I am growing for seed mainly not bud.
next week in fact Fuck it's this week I have to leave for 10 days and it looks like the guy who is supposed to look after my grow will not be available.
what would happen if I just shut everything down for 10 days? I mean leave everything in the dark. I could possibly keep the pumps running and I'm pretty sure with the lights off the nutrient take up will be really low as the temperature will also drop down to maybe 5 degrees Celsius.
the current plants in the flood and drain system was supposed to be Autos but never changed under 24/7 lighting maybe something what to do with the Strain it is the church. I normally use critical mass which soaks up as much nutrient and light as you can physically throw at it. I'm guessing the only way that I can get flowers from this church is by going 12 12. so has anybody had experienced shutting down and effectively placing a grow in stasis? should I start to work temperature down gradually over the next few days? will I need to slowly warm them up again afterwards? when I return they will go straight onto 12 12.
in soil I have several lots of critical mass Autos that seemed very Hardy so maybe I I can just leave them with a very low lamp on them. my lighting is homemade water cooled and although it has all the safety cut outs and resettable fuses built in I'm still a little nervous about leaving a 3 kW system running in an old house unattended.

Hate to say it hombre but that's a terrible plan.
^ I couldn't read all that without paragraphs but why don't you just buy a timer for your lights, top everything off and you'll likely do better that way than shutting it off for 10 days

So I read a little more, why don't you add a heater turn everything down low but not off just to keep the proper cycle going and slow it all down that way

And if you do shut it off for 10 days, before and after pictures would be interesting for others who come up against a situation like this, good luck
