Holiday Blues

Anyone else got the "Holiday Blues" this year? For whatever reason I sure do! Normally this time of year is full of cheer for my Wife and I but this year feels differant. I don't think anything really IS differant but it sure feels that way and it quite depresses me.

There's been no deaths or anything like that around Christmas time in our history so it's not that. Maybe it's the fact that I'm dealing with a TON of absolute BULLSHIT at work and litteraly have less that $20 to my name on the week before Christmas :(

Anyway, just kinda feelin bummed out this year.

...might sound crazy, but is the weather different where you're at these days? Here we normally have mountains of snow but this year you can almost count the snowflakes.

Either way, I get it.

Also, all the going broke stuff is media and esteem driven. It sucks trucker's ass that people have to live like this. It's like the upper tiers float around on inflatables in the blood of people. I've seen people laugh and thoroughly enjoy being part of the problem. It's fckd.

...morning *nods*

It is what it is ... This year, instead of feeling "Bummed Out", I made this quirky hat, complete with lights that go on and off. Sprinkled some ornaments on it, along with a card. The card reads .... Like My Hat? If so, please help me, so together ... WE can give 4 VietNam Veterans a little something under their tree. Thank You and Merry Christmas !! God Bless You and God Bless America.

With still 4 days to go, I have raised over $3,500 for these four men, who are just one step away from being homeless. I am sure that there are many more people out there that are doing the same as we are by "adopting" someone. But at least I know, there will be a smile on 4 faces this Christmas :-)

God Bless and Merry Christmas

Ya, normally around here by now we've got a good layer of snow, but the last couple of years the snow has come late (like around January or February)

...weather patterns are changing for sure. I think it's safe to say that people are affected by it. We have to change our patterns with it, or post on this thread

In general I hate holidays. I don't know, I always have. Now I go and volunteer on Christmas at the shelter. It makes me feel better, and not in a mushy christmas bullshit kinda way. I avoid dealing with family drama and everything else that surrounds this holiday and nobody can really talk shit about it.

Christmas for me became a holiday about guilt. I felt guilty if I don't go to family christmas parties, guilty if I don't buy gifts for people, guilty for not meeting everyone else's expectations. The same people that laid this guilt on me are the people that don't have the time to call the rest of the year, don't care to share the rest of their lives with me, but feel they have some high and mighty opportunity to make me feel guilty if I don't participate in their bullshit charade at the holidays.

So now I'm helping to feed people who need it, and I don't have to buy anyone anything and I don't have to participate in this holiday the way that the society has told me I do. I don't have to spend a month shopping with crazy crowds and either A) blowing my money on peoples gifts or B) feel bad for being too broke to get them one. Nobody can talk shit when they look at themselves and realize that they spent their holiday BUYING and I spent mine GIVING.

If you are bummed at the holidays and you don't like what the holiday means to you anymore, change what it means.
