HLVd destroying cannabis crops

I don't think people are necessarily lying. They are misdiagnosing or blowing it out of proportion. How is there even weed in California dispensaries if 90% of the farms are affected? And like I asked before, how have the prices not skyrocketed?
Not sure why people think its made up and its about selling them products and tests. This is more about the commercial production industry. Some guys were hit big time and have had huge losses. There making you aware as they have been selling clones all over. Its even in Canada in big figures, and was found in the water supply aswel. Its already out of control and a good chance seeds made from those infected plants carry it to. Go buy more plants with dubious pedigrees, with hardly traceable lineage, made with bad breeding practices, and make even more seeds with even more unclear labels and spreading those everywere too, and then we wonder why things are a mess.

I feel like you quoted me, but didn't actually read the comment.

While you guys were busy watching CNN, I put together a micro propagation center for pennies on the dollar, and figured out how to clean up my seeds, and any cuts/plants imported into the grow for less than a few dollars a piece! Better safe than sorry I guess, even though I'm pretty skeptical.

Can someone send me an infected cut that they have tested, and can also show that HLVD is the reason for lost potency via more tests. Prove its real to me! I'm not scared one bit, lol. I'll send you back some clean micro TC cuttings if it does in fact dud out on me, and the clean samples don't. Or just send them to me anyway, because science!

Is it saying a certain light spectrum can stop this virus?

Could it be that the majority of weed grown over the past couple of decades has been indoors under artificial lighting not providing enough of this spectrum?
UV-C is needed to mitigate pm and Boytritis without chemicals

it’s the key to organic vertical farming

Thoughts?
“You’re not going to bleach your way out of this problem, you are going to have to breed your way out of this problem,” McKernan said.

Nah sorry bro, I think I'll keep using bleach, regardless of whatever. Keep your purple jank, lol.

Still waiting for someone to send me some viroid infected materials. No one ever will though, because it's not real, haha.

Fake news!

lol. Really though, i’ve been trying to remember any of the purple strains i’ve grown, if any of them went dud and nope. Can’t think of any. And by purple strains i’m talking cookie type purple not old school purps. Even when the shit would spread to other strains in the garden i can’t remember ever having a dud purple strain. Cuts that can sometimes get some color in the end like wedding cake yes.

Anyone heard or know the strain they are referencing in the article? Jamaican Lion?

Jamaican Lion is a high-CBD sativa strain with mildly psychoactive effects that stimulate creativity and focus without the loss of functionality. Its rich genetic background combines Mountain Lion -- a Rock Bud and Lionheart cross -- with a Jamaican sativa known as Yarders. Shadrock, Jamaican Lion’s creator, first brought the strain to California in 2007, where it was distributed to patients by Harborside. Ushered in by a sweet herbal aroma, Jamaican Lion induces mild psychoactivity that carries through despite its low THC content. Sensory perception sharpens as bad moods dull in clear-headed sensations that can be described as simultaneously uplifting and calming. Few strains compare to Jamaican Lion as it eases pain, anxiety, and inflammation without intoxication or mental cloudiness. Its CBD content is highest around week 9 of flowering, but if you’re looking for more of a 1:1 ratio of CBD and THC, Shadrock recommends harvesting at week 8 instead.

I've had hlvd, I got it from a popular clone dealer here in MI. So did a bunch of other people. I chased my tail for months trying to figure out what bugs I had. Took me half of 3 crops to figure it out.

I lost mother's I had brought with me from a different state that were years old as well. Cause I only ever used alcohol on scissors and that doesn't kill the virus.

I cut everything down and threw away any blades I had used. And started over from seed, havent had an issue since.

I saw someone ask earlier in thread how would you not know til harvest and in the the early stages it's usually only one or two plants that are effected. I thought maybe I had root rot or something weird going as as those two plants didn't drink. But about 25% of that run turned out to be bulll shit even though it looked healthy, it just never denses up and didn't have much smell. And didn't produce much oil when blasted as a last resort.

Next run was half the room and again on the next run. The only thing that kept the eletric bills paid were I had taken in 3 new strains from a different source that hadn't yet got infected so that half the room was fine.

It all worked out for the good it was around the same time the market got so picky and flooded and having unique strains from having to start over from seed has helped.

I'm so on the fence about this. Personally, I've never seen it, never knew anyone that had it. To me it seems like something the industry is blowing out of proportion just to stir up hype and gain business from (new) growers that f their plants up and immediately blame a virus not their own f ups, and pay for testing.

Is it real? Of coarse.
Is it really that big of an issue? Hmm. While I'm not sure, because I don't have all of the facts, but personally I dont think so.

For example, look at the source of the article.... It's a company that makes UV lights to combat hlvd .... Hmmmm .... Bias? I think so.
It's very real and has infected crops in Michigan, especially outdoors. I think the major thing is having a clean sealed environment and using common sense sterile practices (spraying scissors with 70% iso, wearing gloves or spraying hands with iso, not wearing shoes you wore outside to mow into the grow, etc).

MOST IMPORTANTLY, AVOID TAKING CUTTINGS/CLONES FROM OTHER GROWS and DO NOT go into other grows.

We have quite a bit of industrial hemp farms in Michigan and I know my friends dad that has grown for over 20 years outdoors can't even grow outside anymore, his weed gets packed with seeds and other issues anymore because he lives too close to hemp fields.

Just giving a perspective from another place in the world. It definitely exists, the major way to avoid is keep your grow space as clean as possible and try not to track in bugs and other shit into your grow just as you should already be doing. The fact you haven't heard of it or seen it is probably because you don't make those mistakes.

I live near hemp fields, hop feilds etc. Seeds happen. Never even heard of weed aids as being a problem until recently. And all the people making a big deal about it are the ones profiting from it.

Weed aids. :lol::lol::lol::lol:

It's definitely worth watching out for, but I also agree it can be blown out of proportion. Common sense prevails. I won't be busting out my wallet for chemicals or testing any time soon. I will be ordering some more beans though. :D

It’s definitely real but just like anything that can be monetized can and will be exaggerated and sensationalized to increase profit margins. Fear can be a great marketing tool.

Go buy a second hand instant pot or pressure cooker to sterilize your tools in like 20 minutes (make sure any plastics are pp5/won't melt). Or build a cheap induction coil from pre-made ready 2 go ZVS modules + the proper power supply, which they sell everywhere online now. So you can poke any blades or what not into and cherry it in seconds, instead of flaming it every time to heat it to the right temps. There are so many ways to keep things clean.

Learn to tissue culture yourself for cheap and step up your game. Or, be plagued out of the industry.. or grow jamacian lion x everything for the next 20 years, lol.

Most anyone could setup a small amateur lab with everything needed for around $200 or so, and then pennies on the dollar after that to cleanup pretty much whatever seeds or cultivars from then on. Get your priorities straight, if you can afford the best equipment like top bin LED fixtures, you can probably afford a small lab.

Cleanliness is godliness ;)

So this is the evidence you have been asked for?
