I'd say the best bet is to stop worrying about dimmer percentages and distance so much, and invest in (or rent) tools to measure ppfd and DLI. It takes a lot of guess work out of the equation.

I usually rent an apogee from a local hydro shop and take note of what the general ppfd is at numerous heights in a set area and keep them as a reference.

It would be best to just ask everyone's opinion of what they do. But thank you.

I can't buy anymore equipment. My wife still doesn't know I got the light yet. Lol
Hey man. The info I gave you came from Stephen at HLG and worked great for me when I used it. It gives a good baseline and from there its really about watching your plants to see how they react. There is no arguing that just buying a par meter would give you good data but there are countless growers out there harvesting fantastic crops without having a par meter. Best of luck with your new light, it is a great light and will get the job done.

with quantum board LED's, theres a point of diminishing returns in terms of distance, that you just cant see with the naked eye. Can you grow a fantastic crop without a meter? Absolutely. But the optimal light intensity, positioning of your plants and distance from your light can only be confirmed with a meter.

i cant tell you how many times i moved my plants and lights around until they looked perfect to me, but when i double checked with my meter i was off and needed to make adjustments. Im not sure how much less i would have yielded with my plants in the wrong spots or light too high/low but im not willing to find out lol.
