HLG 550 - Site Reccomendation

Hi there,

I am based in the UK and I am looking for a place to buy the HLG 550 as I have to pay Duties & Taxes on this which makes the product quite expensive. I am also looking into the HLG 600H but I believe, correct me if i am wrong, the HLG 550 is better.

Please do help me and let me know how to proceed...

The hlg600 and the hlg550 are the same thing. The only difference between the two is the hlg550 comes preassembled. So if you want to save a couple hundred dollars and have the know how (extremely easy takes 20 mins to assemble) order the 600.

I’ve noticed that the hlg 600 is smaller though

They are the exact same boards. 4 QB288's. The only difference on the 550 is the heatsink. It is slightly spread out more on the 550 but the boards are the same. I wouldn't dole out 300$ more for a couple inch spread.
HLG600 Dimensions = 29" x 15.5" x 3.5"
Hlg550 Dimensions = 26"X20"x3"

What about the 1 year warranty vs 3 year warranty

that's personal preference really. I could understand if you wanted an extra 2 year warranty. I personally, know what I would choose.

HLG550 is 510w with a ppf of 1160
HLG 600 is 620w with a ppf of 1450.

I agree though, I would go with the 600 kit all day long because its cheaper and more powerful.

Taking that into consideration - I can get the HLG 600 for roughly £650.00 and the HLG 550 for £700.00

What do you guys advise?

I have the hlg550, it's a great light, but if I had to do it again, I would have picked up the hlg600. The kits are so easy to put together, it's really a no brainer IMO.
