I think the biggest issue is cultural, we are just not the same people at all.
You do realize that Iran had a democracy and we went in and helped overthrow the government for a dictatorship. Once again, for oil. We helped create the monster that is the Iranian regime today. The Iranian population have been fighting for democracy again but are brutally and systematically put down. Thousands have died or disappeared. Thousands more are political prisoners. I've mentioned this before. The Iranian people want to live in peace. Unfortunately it's the Regime and the clerics that have all the weaponry and power.

I'm thinking the average guy in Iran just wants to be left alone too. I think the problem is the nationalistic bullshit that "leaders" foist on people to expand and exploit hatred for their own gain.

Why is it assumed that I am saying negative, I was just saying we are different, that does mean we should "kill 'em all". Those people in Iran have been dying in droves just trying to be free. The whole ruling class of Iran is putting those people in jeopardy they the citizens did nothing wrong. I was just stating a fact about our deeply held views, not that anyone is wrong or right, we just think differently.

The US Government is trying to persuade their people into Hating them and to be afraid of them. Why? So they can Destroy them and make money doing it. North Korea has nuclear power, The Soviet Union had nuclear power, for godsakes everyone has a nuke.... If they need to be smashed then congress will sign a Declaration of War and we will SMASH them into dirt. Not play cat and mouse games with them that gets Americas youth killed in undeclared illegal conflicts. So just ranting abit

Yeah, I do agree. Additionally, Iran hasn't been so innocent when we were in Iraq. They had their own little silent cells gaining intel and causing internal strife by supporting/financing Jaysh Al Mahdi (JAM) or shiite supporters against the U.S. and those in a political role in Iraq from the end of 2004 to at least 2007. Which makes sense to a degree as much as we have involved ourselves into their business, but it is funny how we rarely hear stories of their influence in Iraq when discussion of Iran comes up or in general how much support they truly did provide (mainly weapons and training for those against a sunni/kurdish dominated political leadership.

They actually had a multiple training camp for young JAM members inside Iraq along the Iraq/Iran border. Iran in my opinion isn't our greatest threat, but is a huge concern. I remember after returning from my 1st deployment from Iraq in 2003 how my superiors informed me that we can "shred the old maps on Iraq and North Korea, but just keep the Iran maps."

Just sounded odd to me as a military intel analyst at the time we would keep them, but not the Iraq maps even though we were still in Iraq?

I believe there is much more than what we see everyday and even behind the truth of Iran vs USA. It is also very sad how they treat their own people.

On another issue related to their Nuclear program, which caused us back in late 2008/ early 2009 to get really involved with their program was the trade of uranium conducted between North Korea and Iran. Though again, unfortunately, none of us know the full truth behind that either, but if such a thing is true I can see why that would be a concern after some of the other things over the past 40yrs that have taken place.

I need to get stoned! lol This topic isn't my favorite, but I will say important to me simply based on the time I invested this past decade serving in the military.

Thanks for the dumb-downed version or shall I say the FOX NEWS political analyst version.

FOX likes to call their analyst's, experts; yeah, experts like Sarah Palin, Karl Rove....yeah, experts....

sounds like you're a "couch potato expert"

or

you do a very good job quoting hypothetical opinions based around "experts"!

It went beyond just oil. Cheap oil was just the cherry on top. In that era both the U.S. and Russia were trying to form friendships or bonds or connections with as many Middle Eastern nations as possible, regardless of what it took to do it. The U.S. wanted someone in charge that they could count on because he both owed the U.S. and counted on the U.S.

Remember, in that era, when it came to oil, the U.S. was more than just capable of being self sufficient, it didn't need oil from any other nation to be able to have all that was needed and then some. It was just getting so much cheaper to purchase foreign oil that the U.S. started buying more. Until the advent of cheap Middle Eastern oil the U.S. was the number one oil producing/oil exporting nation.

That didn't stop because back then all of a sudden the U.S. found it could no longer keep up with the demand and had no option but to purchase oil. It was just that at the time Middle Eastern oil was so cheap that it didn't pay to drill and pump more in the U.S.

i could care less , , i just want to see bombs drop ;D
lol
Who cares? better yet, why would we care?
Wow, I pegged you all wrong...your just a ranting idiot slippers; you should care or you should just keep your damn mouth shut if your not going to add any viable opinion or details from your own research or understanding of the situation. You sound like someone who has never seen a war with your own eyes.

I mean, if you truly witnessed war, I doubt you would be ignorantly saying and liking others who believe we should bomb them.

It is ignorance like this that got us into previous wars. Before I was in Iraq (for 3 deployments); and even through majority of my 1st year I felt like an uneducated twit like yourself, but after my buddies fell, those nationals we worked with fell, and watching the destruction of children and families my entire outlook changed.

As a person who served my country, I am fully aware I served this country for the opposite in which you speak.

You need to get a clue and so does your buddy sniffers; Iran is a threat, Iran needs to be kept at an "arms length"!

Both of your statements are pure stupidity and a lack of effort on your part to know what the hell is really going on.

lets not forget about that recent boat ordeal, where Iran said we better not have a warship in their patrolled oceans...after one of our ships got a little too close for comfort . just happened a few days ago. Haha now all I can find is news about rescuing iranian fisherman from pirates?! So we go to save their fisherman from pirates and they tell us we are asking for a problem?
http://www.euronews.net/2012/01/03/don-t-come-back-iranians-say-to-us-carrier/

What is really going on?

if a war with Iran is in the "pipeline", you will see broadcasts & publications with the two great seals on them, like thats on the dollar, and it will be the start of fucking hell. The publications and broadcasts will start to talk about a plan. Is that how shit goes down? What are the warning signs, anybody thats been through an era when war is declared/ before a draft?!
