Well it isn't narrow at all. If you compare old style "blurpees" to HPS yes but it's not even a close match comparing spectrums and usable lights with HID's and new LED's.

I guess you have used both since you seem so sure about your statement? I'm surprised there's still guys around thinking old technology from 30 years back is superior to modern LED's.

Love you wastei! If we didn’t have this conversation I would have never thought that this dumb ass filter had carbon in it. I am going to start a journal on the next grow and share all I’ve learned and corrected. A small thing like that is a huge mistake to learn but all is good and that’s what makes people like you helping even experienced old school growers transition to new technology. I remember when I tried getting a inline filter to my system. Almost impossible to find without carbon in it. I have a stainless steel one with 10" 1 micron filters but I never got to rethread the fittings.

Having my last run for a long while I think. The system is being disassembled in a month. For sure going to miss this hobby but it also going to feel good to have more free time for my girl and family.

"Banjo" y strainers are nice. You could put a 2 inch filter on whatever sized line you have, using reducer fittings. The 1 1/2" and 2" inch + models have a lot more surface area than smaller 3/4-1" filters. Can get whatever mesh size you need.

I get mine off zoro.com for best price. I get most of my plumbing fittings from there actually.


If I ever switch to HPA, I might upgrade to one of those self cleaning backflush type filters. Where you spin the handle around instead of taking it apart to clean. Even tells you when its starting to clog.


They have automatic electronic ones that are very expensive, so I would rig up my own like the one above by using a motor/valves on it somehow.
