High light UV led 450 watt vrs HLG Quantum 550R boards

After some constructive information not brand bashing

Being trying to find information regarding the High Light Double x 2 which is similar foot print as the HLG 550R, foot print required 1.2 x 1.2 - 1.6 x 1.6 x 2.4 h.. (have 4 x areas)
Price wise- this is were it gets muddled- can buy HLG 550 R cheaper in Aussie/New Zealand than buying the High Light Led in Australia.
Cant find growers in Aussie using the High Lights to get good info on the spectrum compared to the HLG lights( which are pretty good)..
I am leaning towards the High Lights at the moment as I like the duel drivers/dimmable and the heat sinks....

They are in comparison to the HLG's very new.

The aussie highlight thread shows the spectrum.

They are very good, I have a 3x3 with 320w of highlights and I own a lot of HLG QBs, which are also very good.

I think im on my third run with the Highights now, ive done a fair few runs with the QBs
though my QBs are not rspec.

Very hard for me to compare and properly evaluate the Highlights because the runs I have done so far have been using old mother plants splayed out and not my usual method of growing, just filling the space with plants well overdue for flowering.

However there are some comparative grows in the Aussie High light thread.

This is one plant that's well over a year old, been flowered last year, revegged, chopped back 50 times and finally super cropped flatish to fill the tent best it could.

The diodes from what I know are more expensive than the Samsung 301b/h used in the HLG.

But even though they are super high cri they have managed to make a light still hitting high efficiency, but yeah that does make them more expensive.

I finished my first run with my highlights boards not long ago, but had a bunch of grower errors towards the finish and truly didn't do the boards justice. All in all I am really happy with the boards and think with a few tweaks to my environment/soil I will be able to finish things off a lot better in the future. Hopefully I will be able to expand my grow by the end of the year and if that's the case I will definitely get some more of these highlights boards. The spectrum is what really drew me to these boards in the beginning, but I really like the bigger size/simplicity of these boards as well. Also, their customer service is spot on. They were always quick to reply to me and walk me through all of my questions.

To be clear, these highlights boards are the only board style lights I have used so far (i did buy some hlg v1 boards when they were discounted, but just now ordered the drivers for them, so will try and throw those up in my even smaller tent to play around with for now). Only other lights I've used were cob lights. Just wanted to give me experience with the highlights/GLA as I have had nothing but good experiences. Stay well and hope it all works out for you though.

Hey, I'm sorry to have missed this thread. Not sure how I missed it.

@Scuzzman Thank you for your order – I'm glad it finally arrived!

I'm surprised the HLG-550s are so cheap in NZ as they're usually about A$1400-$1500 here, and for that sort of money you could buy two of our 350W or 450W kits (especially if you use the 10% RIU discount) which would blow the 550 away. I'm talking purely in terms of power (700-900W vs 480W for the HLG-550) as it's not really for me to comment on quality. I will point out our spectrum has some UVA and near-UV where the 550 doesn't, and that our boards are 1.5x larger than a Quantum Board and are very good quality.

We use Nichia 757 V3F1 LEDs that are (like for like) more efficient than Samsung LM301B. We also use Seoul Semiconductor "Sunlike" LEDs for the UV boost. These LEDs are not cheap, but they provide a "true" full spectrum (400-750nm) with very good efficiency for a CRI 95 board (2.5 umol/j) and more far red than other, similar boards.

Our boards also have excellent heatsinking that helps with cooling and efficiency in warmer areas.

Thanks also to @loco41 and @coreywebster – I'm glad you're both enjoying the boards. I understand they are very popular in the UK where we sell a very large portion of what we produce.

Have almost the exact same feeling, customer service on my purchases have been above and beyond what I could wish for. Products speak for themselves, make an amateur grower look skilled.

Can't wait to see the end results for you though sir. I had to chop my plants down in mid flower on my last run due to an inspection in my apartment, was super shitty. They were just getting into their groove and looking beautiful though.
