HID Setup Help - No Lights

Hi, I just got my hood today (Sun System Yield Master), I have a lumagro 600w ballast and vivosun MH & HPS bulbs
I hooked up the hood, put in the MH light connected it to the ballast and then plugged the ballast in. It was set to 600w.
The light came on but flashed dull orange, flickered a bit and then white light but dim.
I unplugged the ballast and tried again, this time completely dead, no light.
I thought the bulb may have blown so I put in the hps and turned on the ballast - nothing.

I'm unsure if the hood is dead or the ballast, but either way I'm disappointed.
Any advice on how to diagnose, or from the description is it obviously the ballast or hood?
The fan on the ballast is blowing when it's plugged in.

I doubt it would be the hood. Probably a ballast issue

I figured it out - there's a cool down delay after you unplug it.
I reset the bulb and plugged it back in and it's good now
This is my first ballast/hid - no idea what I'm doing lol

And man is it bright, I was looking at the bulb because it seemed dim.. I guess it was warming up because it got bright pretty quick, like staring at the sun.
