Hi All!

Well, Newbie is an understatement! Just signed up today and I think I have the basics done. I've been trying to put together a closet grow garden for a few weeks now and doing a lot of reading. I've actually got a lot of good advice from this forum so I thought I would jump right in and get my feet wet! Needless to say I've had many more failures than successes to date. I have been adding light, ventilation as I read more good advice. I finally actually have a plant growing now, but it seems to have stopped for now. It's about 4 weeks old. I have attached some pics, but aren't the best quality. My best guess is it is probably the quality of seeds I am using since they are some seeds for my personal stash. I guess if I had a question, is the seed like the most important thing? Should I consider buying seeds? Thanks!005.jpg004.jpg003.jpg002.jpg

The plant seems quite behind for 4 weeks in, lots of people only veg for 4 weeks before flipping over to flower. It appears that it may still be in a party cup from the seedling stage? You will need to transplant it asap to give the roots more room to grow which in turn will help your plant grow. Seeds are very important, weak genetics equals slow growth and lower quaity, airy buds. Over watering can also stunt your growth as you are suffocationg your roots. Welcome to RIU, we will help get you sorted out, no worries!

How good was the weed you got the seeds from?
what soil you have them in?
what's the lighting situation
& do you have a way of testing the ph of their water?

and welcome to RIU, if these dudes can help my dumb ass grow then they'll help you too man!

Thanks for all the info! I really think my biggest problem are the seeds I am trying to use! I think I'm gonna have to figure out a way to buy some quality seeds. I noticed there are lots of places on the internet to buy them, but that seems a little scary to have them sent to the house. Do you hear of many problems doing that? I don't have the best growing conditions around, but I do have the basics down to where the plants should be growing better than they are. In my case, I think it's all about the seeds! Thanks again for the help!

No, I mean 4 weeks, now 5! Hasn't done anything except stay green for at least 2 weeks. I really think it's my seeds. Thank you for responding!

The seeds come from some pretty crappy weed! I am really just trying to get the growing process down before I invest in quality seeds. I won't even mind throwing the stuff away if I can just get a good growing process. I'm not sure what soil mix I have. I went to a Tractor Supply store and bought to filled pots that were a sunflower grow kit. I have the pots in a cardboard box with 2 24" fluorescent lights about 2" away from the plant. I ordered a PH tester and should be here soon. I do leave the lights on for 24/7. Is there such a thing as too much light? Thanks for your help!

The quality of weed makes no difference in whether it is growing or not.

That might be the oddest shit I have ever seen really. They are green and alive and not growing.
If they had problems there should be some clear evidence of the problems. 4 weeks in should be damned near a foot tall by now give or take.
Bottom line is, I have no idea what could be causing that. In all truth it seems that they should be dead by now being stalled for 4 weeks, not green and healthy looking.

You most certainly need to get real lights. What you have will not be enough for a full plant. I dont think that is the problem with them not growing, if anything they should be really tall and lanky because of lack of light.
