I'm new to these boards, and I was interested in growing. Got a few Qs.

has anyone ever successfully grown in an apartment? what tips can you give
can i get seeds shipped to me in the USA? :-?

Anyway, can't wait to grow my own!

You can grow anywhere, and many do grow in an apartment.
BUT, 1 there is the smell. And 2, what about the maintenance man or any visitor?
There are STEALTH Cabinets, and STEALTH SYSTEMS that you just use an odor control. Look here : StealhHydro.com
Decide on a system, or DIY and get started.

There are lots of seedbanks that will ship to the US .... and sometimes you run into good growers that will give you seeds which is very nice ... :hump:

Plenty of info here and on the net about growing .... so you have a wealth of information at your finger tips ... :blsmoke:

wow ty all! i think i want the computer grow case, seems discreet and to contain oder well on principle. also i saw another thread on these boards with 2 plastic tubs stacked in a closet that looked incognito. the stealth hydro systems look good but they seem exposed and REALLY pungent (Unless you put a roof over the lights...?). as for visitors, im not too worried about mmy friends/family. matinence has no business in the rear of my closet, or any place w/o fire sprinklers, wiring, plumbing.

iim still kind of afraid to get seeds. i wont ship anything to the growing address for sure. do the seeds come concealed or masked at all? or is it straight obvious
seeds-->trouble. any/all tips you want to give a soon to be first time grower would be appreciated.

Seed banks are really good about being discreed .... it will look like a regular letter .... no one would be the wiser ... and if by chance they don't make it through nothing will come of it other than a letter from customs that it was taken and you have the option to protest and recover them. The seed bank will usually resend the order if that happens.:peace:

well you've curbed my ordering fears as of now. im still unsure about which system to purchase. i dont want to spend over $450 for the system (lights, seeds, fertz and other core basics will have some extra funds to go them.)

Any personal successes from the systems? I was thinking of this one: SH Hydroponics > Dual Spectrum Bubbleponics™ Complete Kit
I'd pay to upgrade to Dual Spec II lights.would i need diff lights for diff growth stages? should i get more rockwall cubes for future grows? Also the thermometer, and I was thinking about getting the drainage kit too as well, but i dont fully understand how it works, would i need to purchase another reservoir, should i even bother?

on top of this they had better be females...haha

If you look at the two links under my signature, you will see pics of my GROW at the 54 Day Harvest link.
YES, get the two DUAL SPECTRUM Bulbs and use both. They will serve for both, one is a RED Spectrum for BLOOM ,and one is a Blue Spectrum for GROW or VEGGING.
You do not need the DRAINAGE KIT, I will tell you how to NOT need it.
YES, you need the Theometer and Humidty Gauge.

For beginners, you are definitely on the right track.

Ok, so I'm debating whether to get the 4 pot or 6 pot base. the 4 is only in the DWC. Is DWC any different from the bubbleponics 6 basket method? the yields are for me only, and possibly my roommate, so i dont need tons, just enough until next harvest ;). Would the stench vary noticeably from 6 plants to 4?
