clones only need a few leaves to take root. The more leaf its got the more it has to support rather than concentrate on root development.

I cut my clones at only a few inches... as there are certain strains that will stretch anyway. The less there is to support, the more quickly the cutting should take root.

I appreciate the question. I am not the one to talk to about this. Widow, potroast, mogie, fdd, filthy fletch, vote to legalize, etc. have all done this repeatedly. I'm having the same problem you are. I didn't start trying to develop mothers until about a month or so ago. I take about 40 clones a month, most have been from vegging plants being moved into flowering. I think widow and potroast take closer to 300. AL B has a thread on cloning. It will probably be another year before I feel comfortable giving directions on taking them from mother plants. I do recommend practicing by taking a clone or two from plants as you move them. Now I have to go back and stare at your avatar for a while. VV

Thanx Skunk. VV
Thanks. I'm hanging around the unanswered posts section a fair amount lately... so long as i stay clear of giving advice on organics, i'm pretty much ok.

butter' what system are you using to clone? I'm imagining fairly large cuttings just stuck in some water... maybe a little root gel in there.

If you go into NGT's profile, there's a video on clones.

i use rapid rooters with gell cut under water in a dome mist mutiple times a day
sweet.

well the cuttings can't be as big as I imagined then.

Really you should have 100% success rate, maybe lose the odd one here or there.

how quickly do they root in a rapid rooter?

i leave just one set below the top set. Then if there are any large leaves, I'll trim these down too, so that the weight of the leaf isn't too heavy.
