Hermie Concerns

Hey guys, I'm a bit new to the Marijuana realm. I would like to know what specifically causes a plant to become a hermie. I have read that stress can cause it. But I was always told when you clone a confirmed female plant, the clone will be female, period. Can it possibly turn hermie later? Does this occur in flower or veg? As you can see, I have many questions. Thanks in advance to those of you with good input.

in order for u to know if its a male or female u have to put it too flower unless u have fem seeds

3 main ways.
1. Interupption of the 12/12 dark period.
2. Light leaks during the 12/12 dark period.
3. Genetics.
with a clone from a known female mother it cant be #3. however if you do #1 o #2 it can definetley go hermie so you just have to make certain you do not disturb the dark period at all when flowering and that no light can leak into the area and you will be good to go. a green light bulb can be used to work in the flower room during lights off. a simple $1.00-$2.00 green party bulb will work.

Fem seeds are more likely to hermie due to the mother plant being stressed to make fem seeds. Most growers dont like them, i sure as hell dont.
Colloid silver feminization is probably the main cause of the hermies now. Many growers are utilizing this method as well as rodelization to get offspring which increases the possibility of hermie progeny. To explain in detail the process would take forever so this is put simply.

Any plant can hermie if it is stressed too much.
GENETICS(most common cause)
Light(second most common cause)
Heat(3rd)
Cold(4th)
Overpruning(5th)
ect..


Some strains will hermie more easily than others so you just gotta grow it to find out. I love seeds, they are like a little mystery box ^_^

Thanks guys! That clears things up a bunch. A buddy of mine keeps insisting that everytime I clone my FEMALE plant, the clone has a possiblity of being Hermie. I knew that som' bitch was wrong. haha.

Anyone ever had "Blue Dream" turn hermie on them? That's what all my girls are.

Also, another question. Can taking too much at a time off of your mother plant for clones cause your mother plant to become Hermie? Cannabisculture mentioning overpruning made me think of this.

i have just come across this thread and i have a blue dream 6-7 week flower and i found tonight 2 little bannanas (male pistols) i cant think why ive been good to her and shes been good to me until now

i know this thread is a couple months old, but i'm actually reading about hermies because i think My blue dream just went hermie on me too...week 6 in flowering apparently blue dream is one of those strains...

I just had the same thing to me happen i found to little nanners on one of the braches I don't want to kill the whole plant so I just plucked them and going to keep an eye on it what did or r u going to do
