Any thoughts on converting a window air conditioner to exhaust through ducting outside? The portable A/Cs are triple $ for similar BTU. Also, the window units have separate compartments for inside/outside air. I've seen some people box up the exhaust and outside-intake vents, ducting them to the window. Been trying to find a tutorial, but haven't found one yet.

I also smoke in my grow-room (actually, the room where my tents/cabinet are) so I'm trying to get a system that will not exhaust indoor air outside. I would modify the example below to pull outside air in from the window vs the cool-exhaust.

Thanks

Found a couple cool guides. Would still like your opinion on the overall project.

Yes, I like the diy factor. Those examples are great. The best way to cool the condensor coil (in the rear) is to bring in air from outside to cool the coil vs. cooling the condensor coil with the air that being conditioned in doors. If you cool off the condensor coil with your conditioned air, you will create a negative pressure and wherever your exhaust heat goes, there will be the smell of buds. lol. Do exactly like the pic in the post that you pasted. Just make sure to cool your condensor with outside air. Need anything else, just let me know!

Thanks! The room is 13'x13', thinking of going a bit overkill and getting a 10k btu unit. There is one by
Haier on sale for $179 and free shipping right now. That should be plenty I think right? Oh, also wanted to ask of there's any problems running these window units in the dead of summer where it is regularly over 100 degrees outside? Will the air it pulls in still be able to cool the unit appropriately?

Yes, thats where you over size the unit by JUST a couple BTU
