you generally would use some sort of spawned grain or manure along with the cocoHow can you grow mushrooms in straight coco if there's no nutritional value?

Yeah I just figured that coco had nutrients alsoyou generally would use some sort of spawned grain or manure along with the coco
Mick, I pH to 5.8 and let it drift to 6.2 or so. Never every plain water or allow it to dry. Good advice. If you want to know the best way to grow in coco, this is the best site with the best advice.......www.cocoforcannabis.com.
I've been growing in coco for many years and it's simple........feed daily to run off, pH'd to 6.0......never plain water......and never, ever let it dry out.
Good luck.
if it contains P and K, then it's not inert. that's the correct answer. You might want to look it up.........just google "is coco coir inert".........and you'll find the correct answer.
Whatever.if it contains P and K, then it's not inert. that's the correct answer.
An inert grow medium is a type of grow media that contains no nutrients.
Sorry that the definition of inert eludes you.Whatever.

A lot of good info there. Thanks for the link. I've got a lot of reading to do!If you want to know the best way to grow in coco, this is the best site with the best advice.......www.cocoforcannabis.com.

Looking like it’s coco perlite big bucket hempy for the winThis was an experiment with clones from one plant. Coco and perlite on the left them perlite alone. Then DWC and double the size of pot for coco and perlite.
Yeah but is you were inclined to the 2 liter pop bottle works well given the amount of media and footprint on the ground. I am sure I could have got a larger plant out of the big bucket if I veg'ed it longer, I think all of them could have been bigger. But I had them outside and the sun determined the veg time. I am using a coco/perlite mix on this run, also an organic soil mix for hydro that is said to have little in the way of nutrients. I will try the coco against a DWC next time.Looking like it’s coco perlite big bucket hempy for the win

Don't remember, sorry. How much did you get out of the 2 liter pop bottles? I used to get around a 10-14 grams out of 1 liter bottles.
I’m no expert but I always knew there was trace elements in there but nothing of real significance and thought it was referred to as inert because the total some of nutrients is too small for any effect. In essence I think you’re both right. Just looking from opposite sides.if it contains P and K, then it's not inert. that's the correct answer.

I was thinking Rockwool, doing all perlite btw, but you think rapid rooters are a lot more effective than and better to manage?rockwool sucks too IMO. it's either too wet or too dry.
rapid rooters. i start my seeds in a small aero unit and then it goes right into the hydroton/growstones/soil/coco/perlite/ etc.
When you say vermiculite holds nutrients, is that a good thing or a bad thing?Don't remember, sorry.
On the benefits of different media, I found some interesting information from a link in the Led forum.
I might be inclined to compare coco and perlite to coco and vermiculite. The perlite is good for aeration, rinsed coco is already pretty good, but the vermiculite holds nutrients.
for sure.I was thinking Rockwool, doing all perlite btw, but you think rapid rooters are a lot more effective than and better to manage?
And then you would place them in the hempy bucket like you would the Rockwool I would presumefor sure.
yep, they can go in pretty much anything: dirt to hydroton to coco, etc. and I keep mine really wet without issuesAnd then you would place them in the hempy bucket like you would the Rockwool I would presume
