Hempy, 400 watt Tent, and a Dream!

Let's start this newbie update with an important experiment.

This: IMGP0507.jpg makes the middle height of plant 7 degrees higher (72f) than ambient temp (65f).

This: IMGP0508.jpg makes the room 80f, or 15degrees above ambient).

That info is only relevant when using a similar setup. The lesson there is that curving your exhaust builds heat. You can measure this heat and determine an optimal range by adjusting your "exhaust". I haven't read that tidbit anywhere. I hope it helps someone.

The light received a 45 degree rotation for better routing and light diffusion. I was a bit baked earlier and decided to hang a few CFL's. I plan to add 10 23w CFL's when flowering. Each head will be split with a 2700k 23w and a 6500k 23w lamp per outlet. Hopefully, the little addition of CFL's in different spectrums plus the HPS will result in a decent smoke. IMGP0504.jpg

I also rerouted the cords, added a timer, placed the ballast in the tent, and added a speaker. This grow will receive 24/7 music from an old Ipod mini. The tunes are primarily Widespread Panic, Pink Floyd, Phish, etc... with a little Lords of Acid thrown in to confuse the plants:). I threw the seedling in about 2 feet under the canopy. I don't really want to do this but I don't know what else to do. I have a few extra beans of AK48 if this one doesn't make it.

Thanks for tuning in and please add recommendations, tips, jokes, whatever. :)

Looks like you thought of everything. The ladies (?) are looking real nice. How old are they now? Your post reminded me that I wanted to add a handful of CFL's to my flowering room for add'l spectrum. So, why the ballast at the top? No worries about heat build-up? Not that the lumateks get particularly hot. Way to grow, Gird!

I placed the ballast and wires up to to add a bit of heat. Also, I like the idea of running 1 wire into the tent. The temperature outside the tent fluctuates from 63-68. I want the added heat. I'm out of town for a few days next week. I'll bump the temps up to low '80's after I return and buffer the hydration levels. There will be an additional fan added to circulate the heat from the top down.

Placing the plants into an external container (the two clear things that the plants are sitting in) may add a buffer for hydration. If the external container is filled with ph 5.5-5.9 based 15% nute mix 3.2" deep, the containers should retain moisture in the reservoir, the plants should receive plenty of nutes and light, and hopefully the reservoir will not have time to grow anything too funky. It's a theory....Let's see how it works.

Thanks for asking Indicator. +rep

! Does anyone know if you can buy seed in Canada?
Vancouver and Victoria are two nice destinations. You can enjoy the Pacific Ocean, local seafood (in season), diverse female companionship, and safe seed purchasing. My "bagseed' grow is from Victoria ;).

Thanks for the rep. Your theory sounds sound, look forward to seeing how it works out.
Thanks for the Canada tips, I will just sit tight for now, got a few things I can work with. As far as the diverse female companionship goes, okay... only if they are REALLY hot... otherwise my husband may not understand, lol.

We have a place in Northern Ontario. I still haven't made it to Toronto (outside of the airport). Maybe we can make it this summer.

Thanks for the morning chuckle. It's easy to assume....yep....I'm the ass in this one. No disrespect intended :)

Thanks for the compliments.

No worries... It is an easy assumption to make as it does seem to be a sausage-fest around here. I've been called dude, man, and kid. The only one that offended me was kid... that was only because it was said disrespectfully... like I'm some snot-nosed punk, lol!

The World Ice Art Festival in Fairbanks is pretty kick ass. Add some of the best Northern Lights (in the sky, not the grass) on top and you have a great few days away.

The plants survived wonderfully. There's about 4 inches of new growth. There was enough new growth to warrant a first cloning attempt as well a light schedule flip. It's ill advised to flip the time right after cutting but...oh well.

The Ak48 (midget) hasn't been in any breeze whatsoever. I threw it into a 12 oz cup and set it in a tupperware container in the bottom of the tent. It apparently received enough light to stay alive. Cool.

For cloning, I took 8 off the Nirvana female, 6 off the Nirvana freebie, and 6 off the Royal Hash. That actually puts me 1 plant over the legal limit but one of the clones will certainly die. If not, I'll kill one or give it away. The freebie and Royal Hash may be males anyway... let's hope not.

As for flowering, let's hope there's more than one female in the bunch. The tent is getting pretty full with 5 plants.

12/12 started about an hour ago. Here are some pics:

Thinking of ordering another tent for a veg area and picking up a 600 Watt HPS for flowering. Any ideas on a good size for vegging tent?

If you google LUCAS formula I think thats the easiest for hempy. I got one hempy with lucas and one with Osmocote plus going. The Lucas one is about 85% healthy looking the OC+ is about 75% either way I like em both. My first time growing. I am doing hempy and DWC bubbles :)

Nice looking journal and plants bro. I would get a 5X5 tent use that for flower and ur current tent for veg. Or you could get a 2X2 tent for veg if money is an issue. I like the Dark Room tents. I got a DR150 from Secret Jardin nice tents. Just wish they had two vent holes in the top and not just one. Typically u want double size tent for flower then ur veg tent. So you got 16SQ feet for veg you need 32sq feet for flower typically speaking. Also depends how long u veg for also.

What do you guys think?

Both of the Royal Hash look like guys. That's disheartening. I'll try to get some pollen off one of them. It looks like the other will be added to the compost bin. :( The Nirvana plants are looking ladylike. 6 of the clones from 2 days ago are male so they have to go away.

IMGP0723.jpgIMGP0721.jpgIMGP0722.jpgClones are @ day 4. AK 48 is @ day 17 (I think). The AK is under a strong fan. The clones are looking a bit droopy. The leaves are still bright green.

The clones got a dip in Olivia's Cloning gel and were watered with a touch of rooting hormone and superthrive. This is my first cloning attempt.

Opinions or suggestions?

Cool to see another 907 grower out there, absolutely love the setup man. I am running 2 bagseeds which just showed fem sex in the past few days under 150 watts of cfl. I topped and lsted one plant and did circular LST on the other, each plant is only 10-11 inches tall after 2 weeks of 12/12 and 4 weeks of 20/4, but man THEY ARE BUSHES, 8-11 main tops each+ tons of undergrowth budsites and various stemming!!!!

Sorry just had to rant, growing for the first time is very exciting.
