help!

I just went outside to see how my seedlings are and one that I just planted as mysteriously surfaced root and all the root seems to be a little damaged. I took it inside and out it in a wet paper towel in hopes to re hydrate it . Can I even save something so delicate or am I just wasting me time please any help it's apriciated

If it has leaves just build up the soil around the stem, like a small hill.....

if it just the white root. then replant it . white root into the dirt seed part up. this is common.
