It should be. I don't know how it wouldn't be. The only other thing I've ever done is add some dolomite lime to my mix.... its ph neutral and helps stabilize it. What is the PH you are you watering with? How are you testing the soils ph?... Run off or with an electronic soil ph tester? Is the ph tester trusted and or calibrated correctly? Sorry I don't know how else to change the PH drastically, I mean they are called ph up and down.... what could be better at raising the PH up and down besides ph up and down?

You should'nt have to ph soil In SS. If you followed dir should be good. Unless your using a wack base soil but if its 8.7 thats pretty high and I would question your device like bostoner said.

Do your plants look good or is something going on?

I use a Supersoil...NOt subs to the T. its off of another grower on here and basically to a 1.5 cubic bag I add a cup of everything to dolomite lime to fishbone meal and others blah blah. So far working good indoor.

buy a soil ph kit from home depot/lowes and check it against your hanna probe...great way to see if you hanna device is accurate or not.
