Hi there I have a 4x4 loft tent in my attic. And I live wiv ma wich is disabled in a bungalow house. And have got a 6inch twin fan & carbon filter exhaust system going out and I've got a 5inch twin fan 4 intake and the length of ducting is going to be over 15metres long. Because I've been told to put it in the corner of attic over the eave. And I have my 6 inch going out of a tiled ridge vent. In middle of roof.
And now am saving a few pound for a decent led light. And am nearly there and then I'm getting told I have to get. Thermal insulation stuff and build a box around tent and then wrap some mad sheeting foil stuff around insulation and tack it good and seal it up. IS THIS TRUE?? BECAUSE I THORT WEN U HAVE A TENT U DONT NEED TO DO IT. BUT LOOKS LIKE U STILL HAVE TO INSULATE. LOL JOKE. but be worth it in end ha.

If you're venting outside that's what you'll want to hide.

Whats the temprature in the attic? If it gets cold I would put some isolating sheets under the tent from preventing the cold from the floor to rise up in the tent

Well you want snow on yer roof in winter and choppers not to spot your exhaust is why we insulate and make sure your exhausting via a vent in the loft bud most lofts already have a few plus the bit round the eaves

It depends on two things - grow temperature and discretion

So you'll need to factor in how cold your attic is and how that translates into the grow tent. How much heat a light adds etc. Ultimately if you can get the grow temperature right in the tent with just lights and a fan, then insulation is optional.

You may chose to insulate your tent if you don't want the heat coming from the tent to potentially melt snow off your roof and give an obvious heat spot on show for anyone looking.
If you chose to do this then calculate your grow temperature with the insulation factored in.

Additionally, the place you are venting out at (I imaging out a natural vent in the soffit) may create a heat spot in frosty weather too, but that's less of an issue given that many people install an extraction vent in a bathroom through the attic and out this way .

It all depends on your temps in the attic. You may want to consider growing Auto flowers to start and running your light 24/7. Most people set up their exhaust at the top of the tent to remove heat. You want to keep that heat, so move your exhaust to the bottom ports of your tent. If you have a good carbon filter you may want to set the filter up on the outside of the tent and not exhaust outside your house. Recirculating the tent air can have a big effect on the ambient temperature in your attic. Lots of different ways to fight the cold. But if you're somewhere that gets -40 outside, than it's a whole new ballgame that would be far cheaper to find another room to grow.
