Another smoke report

Nameless flower (aged 3 years) by @PhilCuisine

Initial thoughts…
Very orange colored flowers. Looking closer I can see orange/red stigmas draping all over the bracts. The ones on this flower are very thick and numerous. The smell is musky but not in the same sense Afghani varieties are. This smells more perfume-like than comparable to skunk spray or body odor. It’s a very dark floral type smell that has no sweetness whatsoever, kind of hard to describe. Not strong but tickles the nose. Lots of visible trichomes here as well, not overhandling makes a difference.

Let’s smoke some!
Taste: Very mild, I’d say has a “woody” taste to it, not quite as distinct as cedar though. It tastes less dark to me than the MTH.
High/Stone: Indica. The onset with this one is quicker than the MTH. The stone to it is also slightly heavier and just has a general sense of being thicker and having a stronger sedative quality. This would make sense as there is probably a higher CBN percentage in its cannabinoid profile as a result of the aging process and degradation of THC.
Potency: 6-7/10
Duration: 2-3 hours for a bowl with a sleepy comedown. A joint put me to bed.
Medical? Yes. Definitely would be of interest to those who want a restful night sleep without being too sedated. No hangover the next morning.
Negatives? I wouldn’t smoke this in the day as it’s sleepy weed.
@PhilCuisine I personally liked this a little more than the MTH as it’s a little closer to what my personal taste is. Both were excellent and really had a craft cannabis personality to them. And yes, this is the first Phototron weed I’ve ever had and it’s great! Really shows what you do with the light is more important than just wattage alone. Spectrum playing a role too. The shallow water culture setup is cool. I’ve always been fascinated by hydroponics and want to play with it at some point, the plants seem to love it! This is neat, I appreciate the kind gesture and like what you’re doing. It’s unique. Keep on keeping on!

If the Larf-O-Tron worked so well, how come you switched to rooms and real lights? Would you not just fill a room with 10 of them?

I cannot fathom anyone would defend these machines. I’m glad they worked, theres so much better out there now.

After awhile when I got my DWC down to perfection I wanted to grow more strains and bigger plants, that's why I had grow rooms and still had about 4-5 SWC/TRON going at the same time..got bored with my 1K grows and moved to a small rural town in Central Illinois and the water quality sux here..But I never got bored with my Phototrons, that's what I'm growing now..btw, I have 10 farmers growing my homemade strains on their property and the plants are 8ft. tall and I don't smoke as much anymore so I don't need a big grow operation..1st. picture is my Matanuska Thunder Head strain which was 8ft. tall. 2nd. & 3rd. picture another farmer grew and is my Kush cross and MTH..he kept it small. Btw, I've never recommended any to buy Phototrons but if you have them I can help people to make it work...No where in my post did I tell people to buy them..I had 7 of them and one is still brand new in a box..people didn't want their Phototrons so they gave them to me as long as I gave them clone only strains.

So I recently purchased a Phototron 3000sx and am currently on day 5 and I'm struggling with the temperature getting to hot and could really use some advice on tips and tricks for growing hydroponic in sphagnum moss
Dr.G, if you need help with your Phototron let me know..I'm here to help.

Why is everybody so down on the Phototron? I have one, and the first/last time I used it, it worked awesome and I got about a lb. out of a couple plants. I had to shut it down early because it smelled the house up so bad. I loved the smell, but just couldn't have it. This week I built a little grow room in my garage, and am resurrecting the old Phototron. With the automatic feed system, I pretty much don't have to do anything after transplanting the seedlings. Just check the nutrients once in a while.
user2094_pic5913_1232743026.jpgThats hard to believe no way a pound..got any pix of that grow? I love the feed-a-tron..and I just use straight Chicago water for my SWC/TRON, I dont use the sphagnum moss/nutes that came with it. I use Technaflora BC Nutrients..

It’s not a bad idea, the whole design. I’m just not a fan of the lights on it. If i could make a “phototron” with led strips I think it would actually be kind of neat. Especially for a prized mother plant or something.

Are we supposed to be impressed with your photo bombing? Some might be. I'm not one of them. You're not doing anything spectacular if that's what you're thinking. You're doing better than many but what's your point?

Why are you trying so hard? You remind me of the kid back in grade school that wanted to sit with us at the cool table during lunch. They'd bring some new toy trying to show it off hoping to be accepted but all we did was take it and send them off crying. Good times.

Makes sense now. You were one of the cool kids in school and been trying to reclaim that fame ever since. The fact that you are proud of yourself and your bully friends for sending away another kid crying speaks volumes.

I had the medium (3ft tall?) sized model like 20 years ago. My second ever indoor grow, back in my teens still. The clones I had came with mites, but I still got a few zips of premature buggy nugs. I was stoked at the time (after attempting carboard box grows), and the phototrons really seemed like some space aged tech. I remember magazines advertised it all stuffed with huge nugs in the pics, lol.

Cant remember what I traded it away for, but I always remember wishing I kept it.

If I did, I would probably flip it on its side, and use it horizontally for a micro sog. Or just to house clones or something. LED strips/tube upgrades.

Would be fun to have phototron grow contests...

I am a bully. I've been one all my life. I've mellowed out significantly though. But when you start talking up a piece of garbage like the phototron you have to expect to get clowned.

And also, I did say that you're doing better than many. You should take that as a compliment.
