Hey, Im about to start growing and i was just wondering about the set up. Basically im not sure if it is possible to use one type of light through out the whole process? This will help me save on money but im willing to spend a bit if very neccessary.

So i have a few links to equipment im looking at. If you could giv them a look and tell me where im goin wrong and what i should be looking at i would much appreciate it. By the way im only growing 1-2 plants.

CFL lights for seedling. - CFL Lights*>*CFL Grow Lights*>*High Output CFL Systems
Im looking at the £64.95 one. Would this work?

Veg Stage - Could i use the same light for veg? or should i change it. (link to wat i need on that site would be appreciated)

Flowering - Same light? Different light to Veg? Again link to a light on that site would be nice.

Budding - Do i keep the same lights as flowering?

Grow Tent - Grow Tents
Would the smallest one be enough for 2 Small plants or do i need at least the medium. Remebering that it is a stealth grow so i havent got too much space but not exactly cramped. Basically keeping it too a minimum would be nice..

Basically i need to know how many types of lights i will need and which ones. Trying not to spend to much but i dont mind putting a bit in if its worth it for the extra's you get.

i got all my stuff from that website!very reliable, well you could use it i suppose but really you want blue for vegging and red for flowering!is your budget only about £65?and you should grow more than 1-2 plants to increase your chances of getting a female unless you have good feminized seeds.

hi greenfinger, im also using this type of cfl. mine are 125w, the blue for veg, the red for flowering. the 200w lights would be better and give you more coverage, i use that site alot and they are quite good if you have any questions. the small tent would do for 1 or 2 plants but again the medium would give you and the plants abit of space and a decent amount of height for them to grow.
hope this helps

preferably coz of the tight space you have i wouldnt recommend a mh/hps light unless you get some proper ventilation so you should get the 125 which comes with both a blue and red bulb or the 200watt version or the 250watt version.the more watt the better.depends what your budget is tho.

fanks for the feedback guys...So i could use the same lamp and just change the bulb from blue to red?? im willing to spend up 2 £300 at the moment..But the grow tent and soil, ph monitor etc. are in this budget aswell....So basically a cfl grow lamp is enough with 2 different bulbs? and i fink i may pay the extra and get the250W if its worth it..Only £100...

the web price is 109.99 the same price as the 200watter!the 150watter is 92.99.like i said the more watts the better but when your on a tight budget you dont really have that choice!couldnt you buy a cheap second hand wardrobe for 20 quid and convert that?

thats what i did with this old wardrobe. i use the cfl in it for veg and then swap it for the 400w hps for flower. i can get 2 plants in here but it would be tight ( plant pictured was a bigbud strain ).

im not under such a tight budget..Basically i will spend a bit if the results reflect the price..but if its just a slight upgrade then i guess ill leave it..

Is it important to switch from a cfl in veg to a hps light or could i switch the blue bulb in veg stage to a red one in flowering stage while just using the cfl lamp?? Is there a big advantage to using HPS rather then a red bulb cfl in flowering??

Thanks for the help so far guys

hi greenfinger, yes there is a great advantage to using the hps for flower, it penetrates deeper into the plant and can produce alot bigger buds. you can use the red cfl to flower but you wont get as much bud as if you were to use an hps. i got most of my lights etc off that site and i think the price was reasonable. here is the link to the hps i have Great Stuff Hydroponics > 400w GIB Lighting Grow Light hope this helps you decide.

Okay so its worth having the two seperate lights then..CFL for growing and HPS for Flowering...But will good ventilation be needed if i use the HPS? as its going to be a bit of trial and error for me to create the best conditions in my attic...once again thanks for the help

Also the HPS bulb that comes with Great Stuff Hydroponics > 400w GIB Lighting Grow Light Is this going to be a 'red' bulb for the flowering stage as opposed to the blue bulb you have for growing?? or is that only when using CFL??
hi green, yes its mainly the red spectrum which the hps produces, this produces the best growth in flowering. the blue spec is just for vegging plants.
as for the ventilation you would benefit from a good extractor fan and carbon filter because the plants do smell, some stronger than others. this is the system i use apart from the filter, i have a larger filter as pictured in the wardrobe pic.
Great Stuff Hydroponics > 100mm Ventilation Kit
although you say you will be growing in your attic you will still need one of these type of extractors or it could end up stinking out your whole house when you get to the flowering stage.

klkl...thanks for the help...even doe it is a stealth grow myself and my brother do smoke weed in the house and its not a problem with my parents aslong as we only smoke upstairs in our rooms...but will the smell of these budd'ing plants be stronger then the smell of actually smoking??

so basically im going to be better off buying a lamp which holds both HPS and MH bulbs right? That way i can start with my MD bulbs from veg stage then plug the HPS bulb in wen im ready to start flowering right?? That would save me money as i wud jus need the 1 lamp and 2 bulbs

yes,mh for vegging, hps for flowering,if you use a mh from the start then keep it about 20" above um at first just so they can get used to the light,u can lower it bit by but as the days go by!by the second or third week you can safely have it about 10-12" above ya plants, maybe a few inches lower if you have a fan blowing air over the tops of ya plants.

you'l get very good results using a 400watter on only a few plants, you wont be dissapointed.
