Help with soil mix?

Okay first of all.. Here are my girls.. image.jpg

Second: I bought all of this stuff today and I am clueless on how to do this.. image.jpgimage.jpg

Right now the girls are in miracle grow moisture control... Which is bad...

I know that Fox Farm Ocean Forest will give my plants nuteburn.. How about if I mix Fox Farm Ocean Forest with Fox Farm Light Warrior.. Will that not give it nute burn? What problems will I face? Can i add some perlite with that and worm castings? Are they big enough for that?

Last question.. What about those nutes.. What can I start with and how much..?

google "feeding schedule" and the brand of your nutes...you;ll find a chart with the recommended rates for the nute line u have. but for very young plants cut the recommended rate in half for a few weeks then slowly increase it. it would seem that a tsp of something wouldnt hurt your plants but those nutes are very strong. so go easy when u use them.

With those soils, add no nutes until some time down the line when the plants show signs of needing them.

Yes, you can add perlite liberally. But you need to see if that perlite has nutes in it.

Once you need nutes, ease into the schedule you can find online.

Be careful, easier to kill with love and, no offense intended, you seem to have that potential :-)

They look happy now. But i hope you have more lights coming. A single CFL over the top of the plant won't get you far.

Good luck!

Yeah man I'm waiting on my lights now. I'm gonna go with 6 cfls a plant. Along with 2 180 watt LEDs. If you look in there you can see that it's purple in there lol. I got a 15 year old bag seed under there.

Ocean Forest will NOT give your plants nute burn as long as you dont give them any nutes for the first 30 days or so. After 30 days start out with a nutrient schedule at 1/4 to 1/2 the recommended dosage and work your way up to full dose within a few weeks. I also mix in about 1/3 perlite to help with drainage. LOL dont be afraid of FFOF...its a great soil.

I see you bought the fox farms nutrient trio...use it as the schedule suggests. Nutrients with every other watering. You can take the worm castings and light warrior back to the store. not needed with this soil

Well I wouldn't say definitively that it will not give nute burn, I've had certain picky sativas that got serious nute burn in ocean forest without adding any additional nutrients!

To the OP: I'd suggest adding a couple tablespoons of lime to the mix as well, Fox Farms has been skimping on the buffer lately which causes some serious pH related cal/mag deficiencies later in the grow.

IMO you got off on a good foot with your materials to build your medium. As everyone said above mix and mix. Keep track of your mixtures.

I use FFOF, I mix 2/3 FFOF with 1/3 perlite and throw in 1 TBSP lime for each gallon of my container (5 ga. = 5 TBSP).

Now, I have attached the FF feeding chart. Also as noted above, you wont need nutes for 3 - 5 weeks. If you transplant these into bigger pots with FFOF mix, you wont need to feed them again for another 2 - 3 weeks. Just what has worked for me. When you do feed, make sure the girls are asking for it and you correctly pH your feeding solution and your PPM is within the ranges on the attached chart. (when feeding reduced amounts, your PPM will also be lower.)

Hope this hopes.... Good luck! Keep us posted.

Cheers

I suppose nothing is definitive...just relaying my own experiences with everything I've grown so far

What type of lime do I need? What brand? Any on eBay? Can I use peletized or powder?
Personally, I use lime pellets and put about 2 tablespoons spread across the top of my soil when I use 3 gallon containers, and 3 tablespoons of lime when I use 5 gallon containers. Most brands of lime will have the same effect, I picked mine up from home depot!
