Help with setup, need to be able to leave the grow for 7days

Hey!

Im new here, so I dont know if this is the correct place to make the thread.
But im looking for a system/setup that I can leave for about 5-7days, then i'll come back 2-3days. then leave again for 5-7days. This for the whole grow.

http://www.hydrogarden.se/dps-aero-2m2 This one with timers maybe could work. Dont think soil would work, or maybe with timers and controlled watering.


Anyone have done anything like this before? It need to be able to work on it own. Not controlled and checked every day, just 2-3 days a week.

I would never want to leave my plants that long...If something goes wrong and you came back sevearl days later kiss your grow goodbye. If you are really going to have to do that then you will want a hydroponic system...Also i would add a wireless camera if you can so you can view your grow from anywhere so that way if something happens you will see and be able to go and fix it....I built my own system and tent here: https://www.rollitup.org/newbie-central/692193-new-grow-room-setup-new.html

Its a 12 plant re-circulating hydro system. You could make a system as big as you need it. If you can build your own system, then do it. It will save you money and you can build things exactly to your liking and save money. Just my two...Any questions feel free to ask..

yes indeed, don't want anything to go wrong and probably need to build it my self to make it as I want it.

For how long is that "self going" ? I mean without you need to check it?

The first system you have there is an Ebb and Flow system, not the same as a Re-circulating Deep Well hydro system like mine. The second one is an Aeroponics system. This system sprays the roots directly, If you have never used an Aeroponic system before, i would stay away from it, at least until you have better experience. They work great but are very timid to work with. If you had a system like mine you could leave it for up to a week. But no longer than that because the Nutrients and Water need to be replaced. I would never want to go more than a day or two without checking my plants in my opinion. The reason being, is you need to constatly check your Ph levels everyday to give your plants the best results. I would look into a deep well system. It allows your roots to just sit in the water and get fed from the top. Its an easy set up with a few pumps and timers..

If you want something you can leave for days but not so complex as a re-circulator use a dwc system but with a little bit of a twist. Common mj ideals or theory says your should have 5 gals per girl if you are growing normal plants. Here is your best bet cut down to 3 gal pots. Why because you really can grow a large plant in 3 gals and people who haven't done hydro don't understand the cost of all the nutrients and water changes. If you are using distilled water and you are changing every 7 days like some of these ya hoos you will find that hydro can become pretty expensive. Next, knock to knock the recirculating crowd, go straight dwc no extra bells or whistles. The only thing re circulating the water does besides add extra expense of pumps, pvc or tubing timers or anything else is help keep your ph. stable this can easily be accomplished by what I am going to tell you. any way take a 3 gal res. cut you hole for your net pot as needed. Drill your hole for your air line(s) as needed. Now here comes the twist, go to your local home depot and get yourself toilet rebuild kit. The kind that goes inside the bowl that has a float on it. Very easy to hook up with min. tools and waterproof caulk. Make sure the line comes in through the bottom. Also drill a 2" hole in the bottom so that you may install a drain and draincock. Now put this together and connect it to your reservoir. Make sure your res is higher than your dwc bucket so when it needs water it will auto water by gravity. This woks best on a system with a max of 6 buckets going to a sigle 36 gal res. So you have 18 gals in the bucket and you fill the res with 20 gals of clean correctly Ph'd water with no nutes in it. If your timers don't fail on your lights you will have no problems leaving your plants for the amount of time you plan although you may come back to a jungle. Also test it first you would hate to come back to a failed hose or fitting and water everywhere and dead plants.

But was just thinking about timers and that it might work anyway, or atleast for a week.

And have been growing in soil for over 8years. But only 1 year with hydro.. aeroponic. But yes, I think buildning a simular system like yours would be the way to go.

If your planning on leaving it for days at I time I highly suggest you get yourself a "flame defender" automatic fire extinguisher. Last thing you need is to burn down your house then being busted for growing
