Hey I'm a fairly new grower,I'm using FF dirty dozen,I have 7 plants in soil in 5th week flowering under 400hps,marshydro TS 1000&tsw 2000+ 105 watts 4200k cfl,my runoff ppm is higher than my nutrient solution, plants look fine and I'm debating preflushing or should I wait until week 7 or 8 to flush(runoff ppm 1100)and I've never adjusted tap water pH but heard it's 7.2.Any suggestions?

I use tap water and the ph fluctuates. I boil the water and let it cool before I mix nutrients so I’m not sure if that is why it changes but it happens. So if I were you I would invest in a digital ph tester. I use mine to check it every feeding during multiple steps but I’m growing in coco and not soil.

Youve got those little plants in a LOT of dirt.... how often are you watering?

sometimes people forget to clean the saucer really well and make sure no salts are still on it from last watering.. also, do a true 20% run off water next few times you water just to be safe.. usually If you ec at 1.8 and the run off is 2.4 or something, you're not giving it enough to run off or not cleaning the saucer..

Come on guys. Look at these little ass plants in 5 gallon buckets. He probably doesnt need to be adding any nutrients (depending on the medium) and he is probably overwatering.

I just think he is not giving it enough when he does water.. based in the high run off ec..
Hopefully he understands that overwattering is from frequency not ammount.. he could give it 100 gallons.. the pot and soil will only hold so much.

Agreed. Its just that those pots are huge and the plants seem to have basically no branches just one little kola.... Probably only need water every 2 weeks...

When I created a thread about Ph in soil every single answer was dont worry about it with soil. The microbes do the job.

This thread has everyone saying something different.

I'm so confused. Il just Ph my water to 6.5 simply because I don't know what to believe anymore and I don't see how it could hurt.

Believe what the pros say about pH.

Don't automatically trust what people say here.

Every other day, this room is only 5'3" height and temps run about 65&78 so my soil dries pretty quick especially after adding the 2000.
im betting you are way overwatiering. Are you lifting the buckets and making sure they are very light (like when you filled them with fresh dirt)

Don't listen to anyone that tells you not to worry about ph. They are either fucking with you, or too stupid to be giving advice.

Agreed. In living soil the microbes increase the soil ph as the eat and poop. Adding high ph water does not help anything. Granted im not worried about getting to 6.531 ph but i like to see at least a 6.1-6.9 range.

Well tested my tap water at 6.8ph so shouldn't be nite lock out, right?I flushed half strength FF sledgehammer then water,TDS came down.my nutes solution all dirty dozen and 6 week into flower my nite solution ppm is 1150.Is this ok.This was a bagseed trial in 12 x 6 room with 5.5' ceilings.Any ideas, next grow is 5 Durban Poison 5 sour diesel so I know I must control height.

ok this isn't gonna make sense at first so think about it......

Your tap water ph is only the beginning. You gotta add the nutes then measure, then adjust into range.
