Ok so my plant is about 9 days old. When I first planted it, it quickly grew to a height of about 2-3 inches within the first four days. Since then it has barely grown any taller at all. It continues to grow out more but i was just wondering if this was normal or should I be worried. I currently have 2 26W CFLs and 2 20W CFLs, both are daylight. Thanks in advance.

Ok I have a new problem. My plant has started to grow vertically again but now the leaves are really droopy, my first thought was that I was over-watering but I wanted to consult to more experienced people first. I have been watering about every other day until the soil was saturated.

It probably is over-watering if you said you water them every other day. Get a moisture tester and water only when it gets dry deep down in the pot. If the top of the soil is dry its not gonna harm your plant.

Got any pics? Maybe the plant is simply stretching because the light isn't close enough. Drastic temperature and humidity an also cause the plant to grow slowly. Put the lights as close as you can without burning the plant. For flouros, this is usually a couple inches. Keep the temps in the mid 70's and not too far into the 80's with lights on. Lights off, keep it in the 60's. Humidity during veg should be between 40 and 60. I use a humidifier beside my intake to raise humidity to the upper 40's or low 50's. Without it, the humidity is right at 30 and the plants suffer. They grow, but not nearly as well. If your temps are too high (above 85) and you don't have CO2 supplimentation, the stoma close and transpiration stops. FWIW, that's a tomato stoma in my avatar. It's open and nice and happy...

I agree with the others sounds like maybe a little over watering. Are you letting your soil dry between waterings? Pics would be helpfull as well.

yea, that looks to be over watered.... as long as they have good drainage holes they will bounce back and be fine in day or two. i wouldn't worry about the yellowing yet either. let them bounce back then see what those bottom leaves look like. they will end up being removed or fall off when it gets older anyway. Let us know how they look in 1-2 days...... BTW what is your temp?

give it some good water. water it slow around the edges. give it about a half of a party cup full. you should see a little bit of water drain out of the bottom, stop when that happens. an hour later give it half that amount of water. it should snap back in a few hours!! what kind of water are you using? rain,well,city, bottle?
