Help with Micro Grow

Hello RIU. I am a new member here, but have been lurking for quite awhile and decided to make an account finally. Sorry for this wall of text...

On to my question:

I am starting a Micro grow in a cardboard box. I am currently germinating 6 random KB seeds. My grow space is roughly 2 1/2ft. x 2 1/2ft, so not the biggest amount of space.
I have been checking out many of the PC grow threads and have been very impressed, and want to base my grow mainly off of that, but also try and maximize my yield in the shortest amount of time!
I have 4 Daylight (6500K) 100W CFLs, and 4 150W (2700K) CFLs. I have never attempted a micro grow before, and really don't even know where to begin, so this is what I really need to know!

*What lights should I use or a combination? Daylight bulbs during veg then switch? All at one time? (heat issues)

*What lighting schedule should I run? 24/0 or 12/12 the entire time?

*What grow method should be used in a micro grow? LST, FIM, Topping?

*If I were to run 24/0 for veg, what is the vegetative time required for a micro grow?

If there is any additional knowledge anyone could provide for me that would be great! Micro growers appreciated!

Thank you!

Let me start by saying that you can find all of this information "lurking" on this forum, but I am a nice guy, so I will try to shine a little light. A lot of your questions can be answered many different ways. I prefer HID's(metal hallide and high pressure sodium), but heat becomes and issue. Many growers have had success with CFL bulbs, which still get hot, but not as hot, so this brings me to ventilation. Ventilation is as important as lighting. You must be able to supply fresh air and remove hot air from the grow box. Computer fans work nicely for small grow boxes. A flourescent spectrum is good for vegging and anything more orange is great for flowering. Light schedule = 24/0 during vegging and 12/12 during flowering. In a small space LST is important. I use a screen to keep my plants from growing to tall and also for training purposes, but many people also tie branches down and train 1 branch at a time. Vegatative time depends on maturity of the plant. It should be roughly 3-5 weeks old or roughly 4-6 nodes before switching. I would say that you will learn what you prefer by trial and error, so get started growing and ask a lot of questions, but only after you research and read as much as you can on your own.

No problem. Just make sure to make the box reinforced so it doesn't collapse on you and also keep it dark during the light cycle so try to fill any light leaks. or place box in a dark room.

i'm a newb to training plants, but LST sold me from some nice LST's i found
so i'll be starting my LST in the next week or so, my grow log is in my sig if you're interested in watching a newb LST
