help with light proofing

i'm thinking of making a grow cab/box. i plan on growing plants outright, no mothers, no clones. my dimensions are 2X2X7. im doin a project to 1/4 scale for practice before i begin constuction on the real deal, simply to work out the kinks. the problem i'm having is light proofing. how do i keep the light from escaping if im cutting holes on the side for exhaust and intake? will my fans do that automatically or is there and extra step im missing? any help would be great.

p.s im not one to ask for specific instructions, just a finger in the right direction.

right angles in the ducting that you will need to use. 1 length with a bend in it before fan and 1 length after fan with a bend in it,

Last time i used a DIY tent i used a small rectangle box i found at the bottom. I made one flap to hang through half its dimensions on the left (inside the box) and another one on the right of the box (inside) on the bottom.

I admit its not ideal, but only an idea :)

maybe the picture will help explain.
Also, make sure yu use all black surfaces inside the BOX, (not the tent!) to help absorb any left over light.

if you use some pvc piping just ask for some elbows they will be 90 degree turns. paint the inside of the elbow black it will trap most of the light. gl on your grow may you be cursed with many buds

p.s. panty-hoes do help. Ask your missus. Also its a minor way to help prevent pests. But yu would still need right angles or covers

so the box essentialy is a trap for light? wont it build up and disperse after some time?

thanks to all who responded, the ideas have helped nudge me along with my design for the most part. the big question is, lighting now... dun! dun! dunnnn!! im thinking a 250w hps cool tube should do the trick along with a 6" 90mm pc fan for exhaust. any ideas or input on this?

light travels in stiaght lines. it does get reflected and redirected. the light gets to the end of the road it crashes and scatters. not much of it is going to make the corner,, get it? take a hose 2 feet long put a 90 degree bend in it, put it up to your eye and see how much you can see.
