Help With insect identifacation

Hi, I Have Just noticed tons of spider mites and some white flys on my outdoor herbs and have quickly moved my Lady (weed) indoors till i can spray, however i noticed this one on my mint and im wondering what it is.



Ps Forgot To mention that i live in australia

That is a one bad-ass looking bug. Its yellow with sometimes black spots on its back, right? Kill them, they can do some nasty damage to your leaves, quickly. Don't know the name of it. Manual removal works the best.

Ok kool. I spent ages trying to look for it but couldnt find anything, ive sent the pics off to csiro (Australian research dept ) To the insect section and hopefully i find out what species it is.

If any knows any quick ways to attract ladybugs id be very grateful. i know i can grow certain plants but they take ages till they flower

you can just buy lady bugs and praying mantises eggs...when you find out what the bug is let us know plz...

Yeah Unfortunately Buying lady bugs is Very hard in Queensland atm as All Suppliers have no stock due to flood dmg, But i will invest in some plants that attract ladybugs, Also Have a look at this new bug ive spotted, I Just Sprayed my plants with some Spider might Soap spray and he came the next day. Scary looking bug this one. Will Up Date When and if i find out, im still waiting on news from csiro but it is the weekend.

Also i Relies that these pics are showing an indoor grow, They actually norm live outdoors-With a water proof pump, however i brought them inside after i sprayed with the soap spray.



Also i know this basil plant looks sic , it had a bad infestation with spider mites plus Im Still learning DWC , and i want to get my method down pat before my current plants are ready for harvest(one month and counting )

Ps. proberly just a cricket- But its horn thingys make it look mean as hell- Id hate to be a small insect meeting him

Yes, Identification confirmed, It is an insect. Take immediate course of action, purchase flame thrower and annihilate insect.

cucumber beetle maybe.

lol. Yeah Im Basically Killing any bug that causes harm, i dont mind predator bugs.

Cucumber Is what I was thinking also.

I had a look at the cucumber and all of them are ethier spoted or Striped but not in the same configuration, doesnt really look the same tbh

Thanks for your email and I apologise for the late reply - the email has been out of action for a few days.

What you have there is a Red-shouldered Leaf Beetle (Monolepta australis), a member of the family Chrysomelidae, subfamily Galerucinae. As far as I know they are native but they are known to be a pest on some crops. They are quite fond of eating leaves and flowers.
