HELP With Inline Duct Fan Temps?

I bought a new cool reflector with the sealed glass for my 1000W HPS ballast and bulb that I flower with. My question is this; I have a 4" vent pipe that goes through my wall and I'll be pumping cold winter air through the new light. All the fans that I've looked at say that TOP temps for the air going through the FAN should be NO MORE than 140 degrees. Since the air that I'm gonna be pulling through the light will probably be no warmer than 40 degrees, will I be safe with one of those fans? Will the temps be higher than that? One other thing, should I get a 6" fan with a 4"X6" reducer or will the 4" fan be enough? I looked at "Vortex" and "Tjernlund" inline fans. Thanks in advance!

sounds like it. go to plantlights. com and get a valuline fan there. they are cheap and work well. best deal. i see no probs. be careful venting that light right outside. it will melt the snow. make sure it sint too cold if it is snow for the bulb too lol. idk that though, i am sure it is fine. you are lucky i live in thedesert.

Thanks man, I'll check them out. I'm gonna be sucking the air in from outside though. Then venting the warm air inside.

Could just push instead of pull.
Sometimes the simplest solution is just overlooked. Thanks BigBudBalls! It will take some rewiring, but will definately illiminate any heat issues with the fan. What do you think about the sizing part of the equation? Think the 4" will be enough to cool a 1000 Watter or should I go with the 6"?:bigjoint:

The 6 inch Votex are great fans.--my rec on a 1kw

I use three-6" Vortex to vent 4-1kw lights--Thats a 60' closed loop with numerous 90 degree turns. One on each end and one in the middle of the four lights.

My intake is pulling 55-60degree air. The air on the exhaust end is around 95f with all four lights on The heat inline will not come close to anything you need to worry about with a quality fan like Vortex.

Hope that helps.

BTW. With one fan and one light you can push or pull with a Vortex--no need to rewire. But that is excellent advice from BBB as a general rule, especially with cheap in line duct fans.

I went 6" for a 400W. I have this fan: http://www.hvacquick.com/spfnconfig.php?fm=td Works nice. pretty quiet, an the 'cartridge' style makes it a snap to change direction. I have it wired in slow speed mode ~213CFM I think and I can keep my hand on the glass all day and a bee on top of the hood.

Not so sure about the 4". If it has enough velocity, it might work. just be prepared to upsize.
