Help with Hydro

I made a hydro system for 2 of my plants. I have a 5 gallon reservoir and i am using holland secret nutrients. I took the plant out of soil at week 3 of veg and put it in the system. Since then the plants have basically not grown at all. The leaves have died and fallen off, but there are still a few leaves on the plant that are a very healthy green. The roots developed some type of brownish algae type stuff on them and I washed them off and re did the chemicals. The same stuff reappeared so I went and got some fungus killer from the store and sprayed it on the roots. The plants are basically exactly where they were at when i took them out of the soil and they arent growing at all. When I took the roots out to clean them it looked like there was some new growth but nothing really reflected on the plant. Please help! I dont know if there is anything that I can do to help save them so please if you have any input let me know! The set up is a 400 watt HPS over the plants but they are smaller than the other ones that are in soil so the light is a little higher, i dont know if that makes a huge difference or not cause they are still getting a good light spread. Let me know!

Also, what does the PPM mean at the bottom of the feed charts? I have no idea how i can adjust to that or what the hell it means for me growing

You should not be doing all that shit with the roots. You shouldn't be transplanting soil to hydro either. Also, you don't need to feed them while they're in soil for the first several weeks. You adjust PPM with the help of a TDS(total disolved solids) meter. Bottom line, I suggest you start over and do much more research beforehand. Here is a good place to start: GrowFAQ
