help with grow closet planning

Hi Everyone! nice forum here

beginner here,it'll be my first time to try indoor growing,i plan to use my closet, its dimensions are W=2.5 feet D=2 feet H=6.5 feet,been reading up/researching here awhile ive some questions


if i go CFL's with my lighting how many 23w or 26 watters would i need for this size of closet?(i plan to grow 1-2 plants in there) and how do we go about positioning them inside for max effiencency? (veg-flower) i cant seem to find pics of CFL set ups here in a closet setting

if i go hps whats the lowest wattage i can use for my space(W=2.5 feet D=2 feet H=6.5 feet) thats good for 1-2 plants?


about the ventilation, what specs in an exhaust fan can you recommend fotr this size of closet?

really depends on your budget. i like t5's for vegging and hps for budding. i use 2 4 foot t5's and they are awesome. if your only doing 2 plants you may want to veg 4 or more to make sure you end up with two pretty females.

for 2 plants i would use 2 2 foot HO T5's (6500K), or 4 100 watt equivalant 6500K CFL's. The T5's will run you about 25 bucks a piece and the cfls will cost about $20 total with the sockets and cords included. For the HPS i would use a minumum of 250 watt for two plants.

for vegging you just need some type of fan to exchange the air and give them a slight breeze so the stems stiffen up and get sturdy.

for flowering you will need to vent it outside or into a carbon filter because it will smell

is this just going to be in the open area of the closet or in an enclosed area of the closet? it will be easier to control odor if it is enclosed

the closet ill use will be the walk in closet inside my room ,ah yes the smell ,how bad does it smell during flowering? and how often do we change carbon filters/materials?( ive seen the diy page on it here )

btw if i use cfls instead of the t5 fl's for veg stage, how do i go about positioning the cfl lamps?
