I was told my a buddy of mine that once I put some plants in there that the temp would be lowered a bit and that it can still thrive at 30 degree but not as much thc? Is this true?

That doesn't sound right. The temp won't lower once you put plants in, but the humidity
might rise just slightly. With an air cooled hood my tent stays around 75-80 F. Try to keep
it around 80F or below.

This is why I should have went with the air cooled hood :cuss:

So much easier and should have went with my gut instinct!

Here are some pictures of my setup so far. Sorry about the delay, I'm finally learning!

1st Shot
Just the intake and 600w and hurting reflector so far

2nd shot
4inch carbon filter with 4inch vortex

3rd Shot
My outtake leading to a window (open of course)

4th Shot
This is where the heart of the unit will be. Sorry about the mess everywhere.

If I went with an air cooled tube relfector....does that mean I have to cut holes in my tent? (one intake and outake on both sides)

I really dont dont want to be doing this since it is air tight as it is.

in my humble opinion, yes i think you will

which is another reason why Secret Jardin Dark Rooms are superior!

You don't absolutely have to. I have a darkroom and I don't even use the top vent holes. I just attached the other end of the 4 inch Vortex to one end of the air cooled hood with ducting, and I used a 4"-6" reducer. I have the filter, then the light hood, then the vortex exhausting out of the tent.. in that exact order.

And before I got a cooltube, I would look into a regular air cooled hood. The cooling is almost as good and the light spread is much better. In the mean time, you should be fine with that batwing as long as you have a fan blowing on the tops of your plants to keep them cool, and keep that thing at least 1 ft from your tops.

Edit: You do need at least two holes in your tent... one for intake, and the other for exhaust. Just use a couple of those vent flanges like you have on the bottom. You should be able to get em at the same place you got your tent.

Thanks for the putting it in words for me. I guess the cooltube isnt as great as the cool hood (no hot spots?).

So your system doesnt have its own air cool hooded system at all eh? All in one? Pretty neat if it is.

PS - I'm a visual guy, pitcure are worth a thousands words (so its hard for me to imagine things) and I just notice that I dont need to cut 6" holes in my tent....there're already there!!!!

Hey Loudblunts. I've seen your posts around and finally I get to talk to you.

I'm a fellow DR120 owner with an air cooled 400w, and my tent stays just below 80 deg
all day with the lights on. Do you vent your exhaust out a window, or into the attic, or what?

The reason I ask is that I'm seriously considering an upgrade, either a 600w or a 1000w, I just
don't want to have to buy an extra a/c unit to cool the beast.

Thanks ahead.

i had to buy a window a/c unit for my room as my central a/c does a piss poor job at properly cooling the house..... and im tired of fighting my landlord to come out and fix it...

i stuffed a 1k watt in there... cooltube and my temps average around 80-82, on up to 85-88F MAX when my tent is closed and my a/c is set to 70F

i have to dump my hot air from the light exhaust out the room cuz if i dont....it wont stay cool.

Wow, that's pretty extreme. My a/c is set to 77 and stays around 75-80 in the tent. I dump the air outside of the room.
I think I might go with a 600w so i don't have to deal with the heat. But that 1000w, so much light. Your plants must
look like monsters trying to bust out of that tent by the end of your grow.
