Hello Everyone,

I'm new on this forum stuff and been lurking around for some time, so dont mind me if i ask too many question. Please bare with me. LOL

I am interesting in getting the grow tent (http://www.hydroponicsoutlet.com/Secret-Jardin-The-Dark-Room-150-p/ssysjdarkdr150.htm) to be exact. I was wondering what kind of light system shoul d I use because I was thinking of a 600watt ballast and hps light bulb? Would this be suitable for it?

Another problem I'm incountering is the ventilation of the tent. I'm not sure what kind and how strong the incline fans should be at? (I dont know much about cfm and m2) If someone could point me in the right direction, it would greatly appreciated.

Thank You

I have one. DR150. I burn a 1000w in it.
Air-cooled hood is a must, with own dedicated fan to keep cool.
It is what it is.
I wish I hadn't bought it & just made my own. I want to modify too many things.

If you really want a prefab tent, check out a Sun Hut.
I have their 2x4 (white interior) as a veg tent.
My Sun Hut is much better made than the Secret Jardin.

My biggest complaint with the DR150 is that your access inside is limited.
An odd large front flap with 2 side windows.
The Sun Hut allows you to unzip & peel back the front & both sides.
Waterings would be so much easier.

Here, save yourself $100.

Hey Sarsippious,

The only reason why Im consideing a tent is because I dont like the feeling of destorying my home for a small fesible grow you know. Knowing that I can tare it down in acouple of mins and put it in a "moveing box" makes me feel secured. I read good things about "The dark room".

Oh yeah the Sun hut looks nice too. Im just a little worried about manufactures too. Im a small guy so I can manage to work in small spaces.

I might go with 5x5 with 600watts?

Oh yeah, small for my size but yeah i'll keep that in mind for sure. Im just worried for the tents that put out bad fumes and kills the plants. Any tent will do as long as it will produce.:leaf:

Thanks DDHBomb, for reassuring me on this topic! :bigjoint:

Well my plans is this: Go with one 600watt light in a 4x4 tent or either a 4x8 tent with a 600watt light mover?

Im the type of guy that really thinks deep in the investment before starting so any advice or criticism is be appreaciated.

Update: After going to the local hydro store, I'm am going withe the 4x4 Sun Hut (due to the relective walls and no toxic fumes). My exhuast is going to be a Panasonic Whisperline 440cfm with carbon filter. The Sun System 6" air cooled reflector is goin to joined with the out going of the exhuast. The only thing I havent had my mind on is the bulb. What kind and power and so forth. Other then that Ì`m ready to be like my ancestors.

If you get a 4x4 tent, get a 600w digital. I have a DR120 with a 400w HPS and I wish
I had a 600w. The 400 puts out just enough light, but the 600 would be a perfect balance
of light and heat output.

Oh, and get an air cooled hood, like the Yield Master or Super Sun. It will make your tent
easier to keep cool and you'll be glad you got it.

Update: I just came back form my hydro store and bought myself a sunhut 4x4 $290, 600w ballast $240, GAVITA reflector bulb HPS 600w $135 and yo-yo hangers $20 and a horizontal shade $20. I dont know why i got the shade when orignally I was goin with the cool air hoods!!!!! Its because the Gavita bulb doesnt put myst heat out. But I might go and swapped the horizontal for the air coolie hooded reflector D'OH!

I wish u would have posted this before i went on my journey. :wall: Now I thinking about those wicked hoods instead of this normal reflector (cheap looking too) *sigh*

How do you hang a light in the sunhut? Also do these let any light out or can I tell people its a spare clothes closet for my winter or summer clothes?

there are poles to attach come with the tent for hanging the light no good excuss for a tent if they are smart if they are stupid really not a problem but i would def get an air cooled if for some reason you dont want it cool tube in winter if you have like the sun systems take the glass cover off and turn off fan and you have a normal reflectro but when u need to cool it that easy to go back

The darkroom 4 x 4 is only $2o6,no toxic fumes-best tent avail imho
Stay away from htg supply/hydrohut tents etc those are toxic.
I ran a 1ooo watt in my 4x4 and had no heat issues, but did burn a bud or 2.
Maybe got a lb off 8plants.Heath robinson ran multiple 4oo vert/2 plants and got a 5 pack ithink! I like the tents,i tell people its a vocal booth!

I hope i did everything right Please help me out I need to fine tune this unit so I can place my veggies in there!

Please any kind words would be lovely rite now thank you

hey Headbandrocker,

How did you keep the ten so cool???? Was it because it used a air cooled refecltor? I KNEW I SHOULD WENT WITH ONE

The air cooled reflector is the number one way to keep the tent cool. You hook it up so
that the cool air is sucked through the reflector and exhausted out a window or into the attic.
With an air cooled tent you can put the light much closer to your plants too, giving you more
light. As far as humidity, you may need to get a humidifier. And don't forget a small fan to circulate
air inside the tent.

Oh yeah? That was my theory, that I should have got a air cooled to even keep it more cooler then I expected. The light does give off quiet a bit of heat dispite the GAVITA brand (no heat issues monkey) Thanks for clarify that for me Skeksis.
