Hi this is my first grow and it's nirvana crystal. These plants are about 5 weeks into veg. They're in 2 parts FFOF and 1 part FFHF I ph balance my water and they're under a 600 watt mh light right now. I've started experiencing yellow and brown spots on my older growth and my new growth has yellow tips and the growth is real stunted. My other plant is discolored but it's doing ok anyways I really could use some help please

Quick questions: you mention that you use ph balanced water. Is it tap, well, RO or what; and what ph are you balancing to?

Thnks

I'm using tap. I let it sit for a few days to evaporate the chlorine. It's around 10ph so I use a little vinegar to lower it and a tiny smidge of baking soda to raise it if it needs it. I try to get my ph to 6.7 - 6.8

Relax its not as bad as you think, but I congratulate you (first ever on RIU) on your caution, the little white now brown spots are a bug infection about 7-14 days old, possibly white fly sucking at your fans, the real reason why you think the plants are stunted is because they are, and its typical of growers who grow under one kelvin to experience this, Mh or light color in the 6500k band encourages short stunted plants ...or the correct saying is "More blue- shorter with tight inter-nodes...More red- taller with longer inter-nodes"
Ease the situation by giving them some time 25% per week of total light time under a HPS in the typical red/ 2700k ..or as many do put them out for some sun 1-2 times per week, but watch for bugs. Spray Neem Oil 1x time per week to prevent bugs and mold.
You do have early nute burn, indicated by the yellowing of the top new growth and splattering lower down, I hope for your sake you have enough drainage in those buckets at least 10 x 1 inch holes, or 20 1/2 inch holes to encourage correct drainage(cover the holes with insect mesh or pantyhose to prevent the soil flowing out if necessary)

..and then you gotta do a flush see it as a rainstorm in nature, to my blog: https://www.rollitup.org/Journal/Entry/flush-baby-flush.27513/

and about Neem .. https://www.rollitup.org/Journal/Entry/neem-oil.27514/

good luck as I always advise old and young alike to mix in 30-55% perlite to prevent nute burn thru dilution of FFOF and avoid root compaction

Good for you to allow the water to evape out.... any gases, but totally dumb to Ph your water ....as that is what the soil does ... is it not?

A ph of 10 is crazy high. Either you have a bum ph meter, or there are enough negative ions in the water to bind up all the calcium and magnesium in the soil.

First, check your meter. You may be giving those plants over acidified water.

If the meter checks out ok, I would try some distilled water for a week or two with a bit of CalMag supplement.

Vostok gives good advice too-- so you have a couple of perspectives to try out.

I agree with Nitegazer, Definitely check or get a Ph meter for your water and soil, also grab yourself a EC PPM meter to determine how much stuff is in your water. I use great white shark beneficial bacteria with molasses and the whole house & garden nutrient line, my plants love it!

Thanks for the welcome. I used this forum to prepare for my first grow. I dunno about the soil doing it I thought it was good to ph your water. Also with drainage here's a picture of my holes. Also with bugs why haven't they attacked my other 2 plants? And I just fed them a small amount of grow big this last flowering...Also it's kinda hard to give them hps light as if have to change the bulb out of my cool tube. Also probably no go on Sun light either lol but since they're a month and a half old now I was thinking about starting to flower them. Anyways here's some more pictures

They look a little stressed, but you are doing a great job. Those plants will be monsters once you flower-- Crystal stretches, you know. :-)

Your drainage should be fine; what I don't know is if you have overwatered. They leaves look a bit limp. Do you let the soil dry down a couple inches before watering?

I know nothing lol this is my first grow but at least someone eased my mind a little bit....so neem oil 1x a week...just in a spray bottle and foilage spray them when lights are off?....and what about flowering when will I know it's time? Also the one girl with the spots is wilted and droopy will she perk up?

I think I may have been over watering but now they get water every 3 or 4 days I thought that would be good the soil feels pretty dry

I think I'm going to flower them real soon since my grow height is about 5 feet

Also: I have a few of these leaves covered in yellow spots should I just cut those off? They seem to me spreading and dying

When it comes to your watering, until you get the hang of it I would recommend checking the bottoms of the pots before giving them more water. Stick a finger into one of those holes of yours; if it's still real wet down there, you don't need to water. The mix of soil you have can retain a lot of water, and you are in 5 gallon pots, that can be wet at the bottom while they're dry on top.

I would start flowering now if you want them under 5 feet.

Don't cut off anything. The leaf will fall on its own if it comes to that. I still think you should go with distilled water and cal-mag on your next couple of waterings (when the soil's dry)
