Help with Clawing

Hi All,

I am hoping someone can give me a few suggestions on what maybe going on with one of my plants. I am a new grower going through my first grow and am running into issues with some new growth clawing on one of my plants. I received the plants 12 days ago and they were in a bit of rough shape. They had the ends of most leaves cut off and a few that were yellowing. Not knowing where they were too in age, I started them of for a week at ~500ppm, then did my first res change after 7 days and have them at ~850-900ppm. I noticed in the first week what appeared to be overwatering, so when i did my res change i moved the drips back an inch or so. I have listed my details below:

Pictures: I have included 3 pictures of my plant clawing, 1 of my healthier plant (img#20210116_093920.jpg), one of the res setup and one of the two plants in the tent.

1) Growing indoor
2) Watering schedule, Continuous Drip RDWC
4) Growing Medium: Hydroton
5) Age: Not Sure: I am currently using week#2 of the GH recirculating feed chart

Current Details (All ml/g following Week 2 of GH recirculating feed chart)
PPM: ~900ppm
PH: ~5.8, I find every morning its around 6.2 and I have to ph down to ~5.8
Temp: Day 73 - 75, Night ~68
Humidity: 40 - 60 (I have a humidifier that kicks in every 1.5hrs)
Res: 10gallon, temp between 19 and 20.5.
Air: Two air stones with a good boil on in the res.
Water Source: Filtered
Nutrients:
Flora Bloom, Gro, micro
Rapid start
Floralicious Plus
Cal Mag
Enzyme Komplete
PH Down (every morning to keep around 5.8ph)

Thanks for taking a look. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Clones? Don't look like they're from seed.
900PPM seems awfully high to me.
I just hit 900PPM in coco and I'm 2 weeks into flower.
Wait for some true hydro guys to chime in though.

I'll follow also being a soil grower.
Wondering if using cal mag is an issue.
The GH trio already has Ca and Mg so I don't see why cal mag is needed.
Make sure your PH pen is calibrated.
Wait for some true hydro guys to chime in though.

Thanks for the reply. I think they are clones, the shop I bought them off didn't give me any info on then other than its bruce banner and triangle mints. I am assuming they are clones, I should have asked the age and method used. The shop told me to follow the GH feed chart exactly, despite what I read on forums saying use half of the recommend dose I took their advise. Maybe I should try dropping it back a bit. How long do you typically wait in between trying something before you deem if its a positive or negative change? Thanks again.

Thanks for the reply. I calibrated my PH pen and it seems to working fine. Funny you mention the Cal Mag, the shop that I bought everything off of said there was no need for Cal mag with the nutrients I was using, but i figured where I was filtering the water it would be necessary. Should I just remove a couple litres of nutrients and replace with fresh water, then ph balance? Or do you think I should start over with my res nutrients? Thanks again.

Id cut your nutes down to half what you're using and slowly work your way up. Is that RO water or tap you're using?
I am using tap water through a camoc RV filter. I'll swap some nutrients out with fresh water to see how they do. Thanks.

Holy crap, I really blew that out of proportion using the GH recirculating feed chat. Thanks for the chart, what does the PPM500 versus PPM700 rows represent? Would it be a upper and lower range? Thanks
.500 scale is US measurement, .700 is EU. Just different conversions of EC. This is why most go by EC# as that's universal.
Almost every manufacturers feed chart is obscene. The more you use, the more $$ they make. :bigjoint:

Awesome, I have removed some nutrients and added back fresh water. I'll post back the results in a few days. Thanks everyone for all the advise.

After reducing the nutrients that solved the issue. The one on the left was the one clawing, and while the growth is a bit behind the one on the right, it now appears healthy. Thanks all.

nutes are too high, causing nitrogen toxicity...in hydro less is more.
