Help with CFLs

Ok so I've never grown weed before.I am on a tiny budget and want to know if a 20w CFL (It's supposed to be like a 70w or something) light will work for growing one plant?

I also am growing in a small closet with tin foil (Aluminium foil) all around the walls and door.

I got another 11w CFL that is supposed to be like a 60w I might be able to use.

you need atleast 3 bulbs if u are using foil to surround it and remember to tip the bulbs on the side because more light for your plant. but if u an get more bulbs do so

So you think that these 2 bulbs won't do anything?
Would I be better of putting the plants on my window sill and growing them there? :/

Do not put them in window sill thats even worse. u can start with those 2 but make sure they are sideways but in a month u think u can get 2 more bulbs?

first off, paint the walls flat white and ditch the foil, the actualwattage is the lower number of the two and the equivilant wattage is the higher number so you will have 22w with the two bulbs, best thing to do is save for an extra while and invest in some 65w cfls which can be bought cheap in elec retailers, 6500k for veg 2700k for flower

the better the wattage the more your plant will like it and the better results you`ll get, trust me ive been where you are now and you will waste your time and tarnish the idea of growing if you start with such small watts...

I will be able to get some more CFLs,but I will also need some splitters?

Also,for flowering do I really need different bulbs or can I just change the time to 12/12?

Ok,you sure I should get rid of the foil?

as long as it is flat white then yea u are golden. and i would get 2 splitters and 4 bulbs or 2 65 watt bulbs would do u well and u can get one 2700l and 6400k and u will be good with just changing the time of the lights, but 2 of each would be better but one of each will work

Hmm,it's just the foil seems to be making it a lot brighter in the closet than the flat white.

100% on it, i`m sure if you look about your shed or a mates you`ll find some flat white undercoat somewhere, (we all got some somewhere), and as mikmike said, you can use a mixture of bulbs but for each period there needs to be more of one type of light than the other, eg: veg is more 6500k, so for every two 6500k have one 2700k, vice versa in flower, fro veg 18 hours lights on 6 hours off, for flower 12/12, you also need to change nutes in flower, you want high nitrogen in veg and high phostrogen in flower.. you are growing in soil right?

those are lumens, what our eye can see, but the rays the plant are using we dont see. so it seems that it is brighter, but u can google foil vs flat white and see what everyone sees, and 80% or more will say flat white

Splitters and 65's are the way to grow on a budget and yes, 4 bulbs would be nice for 1 plant. Save money so you can buy something bigger when you can. The big ones are nice, but they can produce a lot of heat. 65's may have little ventilation issues. The big ones are warm:

Yeah I'm growing in soil,is the nutrients expensive?
I am on like the smallest budget but I have lights,I just don't have more than one lamp/socket for bulbs :/

I am getting €30 this weekend but I am spending it on the seeds (I am using a card you topup but you must topup €30 at a time) I am buying Amnesia.

So that leaves me with nothing pretty much.

I got 2 bulbs but only 1 lamp,I may have one laying around.

I got lots more bulbs but heat is a problem and no bulb sockets either.

hmm if u are buying seeds and it is not bag seed i would wait it out till u can afford the lights and nuts because dont waste a good seed

heres some pic`s, as you can see i`m like you on a small budget, but a saved for an extra week and bought 4 65w 6500k bulbs, the holders they fit in and some cable, wired them all to a fuse block and they plug into a single socket running across a single 13a fuse. so its tottally doable, and as it takes awhile to grow your weed, you can add to your setup as you go, i made a hood from a speed sign i found on the side of the road as it has good reflective plastic and is heat proofed. freebie tho ...

then week later bought some more fittings, week later some more bulbs, you get the idea....

when the time came i had my flower bulbs bought, 6 65w 2700k bulbs, fitted them in with the 4 6500k`s, and hey presto we were growing weed....

nutes can be as cheap or expensive as you want, just has to be high n in veg and phostrogen in flower...

How about this:
My brother grew weed on his window sill perfectly,what I have told my parents is that I'm growing hemp for a school challenge (They believe me)
I know it will smell and I told them that.
So when it reaches like 1 foot or something I move it into the closet for flowering with the bulbs I have?

i am telling u window sill will be stretched, but it is your grow and your money just trying to help u not waste your money
