If this is for a PC grow, forget about using the HPS bulb. I PC case with a remote ballast isn't very stealthy and I'd be worried about heat issues. One 65W CFL is all you need, maybe only a 42W. You need a soft white bulb for flowering and one daylight bulb for veging.

..its all vegged up its bee outside its atleast a foot but i bent it up..doin LST..but anyways.. by soft white for flowering are u talkin about the orangey tint(2700k)?? cuz i dont see a big difference between soft white and daylights..?im a newb so take it easy on meh..and thanks alot for the help guys

2700k is the one. 6500k(daylight) has more blue light. Pretty sure you could tell the difference.

how do u make a post
personally i have never seen a ballast like that...cord and plug connected and completetly sealed..definetly looks electronic, and i have never seen an electronic ballast for other than recessed HID lights.

as a general rule for you the FIXTURE, AND BALLAST ASSEMBLY determin the WATTAGE of your lamp. NOT ALL LAMPS ARE COMPATIBLE WITH ALL FIXTURES. usually the label on the ballast will say risk of fire, only replace with type xyz lamp"

ballasts are specific to the TYPE of lamp...MH is different from SODIUM.

but there are conversion kits, these are multi-tap, remote magnetic ballasts for 175w HPS well lights, small ones are the ballast large ones are the lights
