I have a 3 by 4 by 8 feet tall grow closet inside my shed. I useA hydroponics bubbler system I have a 400 watt HPS. one plant is a sativa deadhead and the other is a plant I bought from a grower...called Holy Grail. the Holy Grail was already in veg state and the dead had I grew from a clone. From what I hear the Holy Grail indica is a slow grower and maybe an auto not sure about the deadhead. In any case they have been my grow 20150721_120028.jpg 20150711_174026.jpg 20150626_153434.jpg closet for 31 days I think I need to keep them in veg stage a while longer but I'm not sure. My ph level and ppm have been pretty steady. the roots are growing like gangbusters. Should I try any defoliation or stay the course? here's a pic of my set up and plants. Any advice would be welcome! :weed:

the first pic the look sad.. you could flower them both if you wanted, but i would wait on the smaller one... once in flower that bigger one is gonna bush right over the smaller one and its not gonna do much... they stretch twice or sometimes even three times the current length when you flip. also i see brown roots, ive never did hydro but i always thought that was bad? are the other holes allowing light to beam in? light kills roots.

I've copied this setup from a friend of mine. He had had much success. Will cover the other holes. Thx fire the input. I think I will wait for the smaller one to catch up and then go into flowing mode. The roots are kicking major a$$ tho. Holy grail grows really slow.

you could move the plant over to the other hole, and leave one open bewteen the two plants, so the one doesnt bush over top of the little one. when you flower the little one will get bigger.. the big one depending on height restrictions may overgrow.. up to you though..

Hydro roots will take on a brown color if your solution is off color, don't sweat that. Now if they smell bad ...ie you stick your nose in there and pull back because it stinks then you've got issues. A fish tank smell is acceptable. Yeah the large one will crowd out the pip squeak in no time. Btw if that small one is an auto it would have died by now. U look at those things wrong and the go roots up.

Funny you say that. Actually the day after my original post the bigger went into shock. Don't know why. The smaller one is doing great. I guess I waited to long to flower the the Holy grail. F÷&k me! Doesn't look like it's going to recover. :(

Make sure the ph is ok, don't flush it just dilute the solution in half with ph'd water and watch it, leave it alone for 3-4 days, they're resilient and will surprise you. If you have to do something then add another air pump and stones to the bucket, when the water is boiling like a sauna then you'll know that base is covered.
