I'm using fox farm nutrients and looking to try out something new. I was looking into buying advanced nutrients but wasn't sure which nutrients to go with from advanced nutrients. Any one use advanced nutrients and what would u guys recommend buying from advanced nutrients for a noob? Here some pics of my current grow with fox farm nutrients 4 weeks into bloom and will finish this grow with fox farm. Looking for something for next grow and wanted to try out advanced nutrients. Which pack should I go with that has everything I need to grow in soil? And what's best soil to grow using these nutrients?

If I were going to use a multi-bottle "lineup" I would try Dyna-Gro. I see a lot of good grows using it. (H&G sounds good too.).

Have you thought about using an ordinary (non-cannabis) product like Jack's Classic or Grow More Sea Grow? Instead of following a schedule, you use ordinary products mixed to get the NPK ratio you want.

For example, you can enter your FF schedule into this spreadsheet to see the NPK ratio(s) you've used through your grow. Then compare the NPK ratios that result from other opaque, schedule-driven "lineups." Then model any ratio using generic stuff (fish emulsion to raise N, bulk potassium sulfate to raise K, an inexpensive "bloom booster" to raise P). I made a spreadsheet to do this.

My opinion is that the boutique "lineups" like Advanced are scammy, overpriced and designed to lock you into a proprietary formula where you're not driven by NPK -- but by "so much of bottle X, and so much of bottle Y." If you can get out of the bottle/schedule mentality (like betting on a team in sports) and think of NPK and the sources of what you use to get a ratio you want, it puts you in control instead of subscribing to someone's mystery NPK through a premium price.

Having said that: Advanced Nutrients is one of the *last* multi-bottle products I would use. The company seems low on info, high on hype. The people who run the company remind me of the Make Money Fast guy on late-night TV. I'm sure it grows well. But, my point is, you don't need to associate with gimmickry like that if you get into NPK ratios. Look AN's schedule, plug their products into the spreadsheet, see the NPK ratios, and then recreate it using anything you want. (I'm pretty sure mixing 2-3 MiracleGro products could work almost as well. Although, I would step up to Grow More Sea Grow or Jack's Classic.).

If you want to use advanced in soil ie promix go with sensi grow and bloom for base. Get your own type of beneficial bacteria from recharge by real growers. Bomb shit and way cheaper then voodoo tarantula and piranha. Then big bud for booster and overdrive. You'll get great results with just those. If you want to add to it I'd suggest mother earth tea bloom every other watering for some organics to bring up the dank. That's the easy cheap way to go advanced and get good results. Then if you choose or want more get some other additives. Keep it simple at first so you'll have a baseline to compare to.

I started using just their A/B Grow and Bloom formulas when I switched medium to 50/50 mix of ProMix and Triple Mix. It was just my pick at the time, I'm sure there's better or equivalent out there, I just have bigger fish to fry than worry about what brand of nutes I'm using. In this medium, I feed them starting around 3 weeks from seed or 2 weeks from clone, EVERY OTHER WATERING. In veg I go from 300 - 500 ppm progressively as they get larger. In flower I feed them every other watering at 600 ppm. Cost is around $0.06 to $0.09 per gram depending on the strain/yield I'm running. I don't use any other boosters, add-ins, not necessary. Here's a couple of 7gal plants I just threw into flowering and some 3gal plants 5 weeks into flowering, it works fine without all the extra/costly shit they try and sell you, as will other bottled nutes if you get everything else right.

I feed low ppms with a brand called maxsea. They have an all purpose 16-16-16 and a bloom 3-20-20, both in powdered form. I mix them in various ratios, or use them whole, throughout the growth cycle. I get great results, although I haven't done ¢/g yet, it can't be much at all. I use about 3teaspoons per 5gal.

My well water is about 380ppm on 500scale. Through veg I add only 300-450ppm. In flower at most 750ppm.

Seems that any well rounded nutrient program will work as long as you don't over do it.

@OP if you choose to go with AN then just get the base nutrients and get a feel for them. Like I said, any well rounded nutrient program will work as long as you don't over do it.

If you want the biggest most stinkiest buds, you have to buy everything AN has to offer. You'll never be a master grower if you don't.
Hey Chuck are you getting soft or maybe you were away somewhere? This threads been open for a couple of days and I hadn't seen your contribution - lol ;)

This is what I use for the base, Advanced Nutrients 3-part pH perfect and for bennies {additives} in veg I use Voodoo Juice, Tarantula, Piranha and B-52....In flowering I use Rhino Skin, Bud Candy, Overdrive, Big Bud and Sensizym. And I highly recommend using Pro mix with 50% perlite.

Why change, when it appears you have it dialed in. If you just want to waste a LOT of money, dump all your FF nutes and start over with what, some nicely labeled nutes that the next guy down the block sells for half the price. Stay with what you got, it's obvious it's working.
As far as soil, IMOP all potting soil without added nutes is fine. You need to add some perlite probably, to get more air to the dense roots that herb has, but that's it. Remember it's a 3 month grow, with added nutes the soil doesn't have to be expensive to work.

My impression is that it's boredom; a desire to do something more as a hobby, more skills, more experience. I think that's a desirable trait. But, I wouldn't replace one opaque "lineup" with another like it's fantasy football. I would do something completely different, like adjusting my own NPK ratios with ordinary plug-n-play components.

@uwine99 has an interesting "no-cook" organic soil for a water-only (occasional "tea") grow. That would be an interesting experience (compared to replacing one "collect 'em all" set with another).

I've been using just the bloom, grow, micro ph perfect nutes by AN and I've been very very happy with the results. I've heard great things about Voodoo juice though and plan to try that out next grow.

A lot of people on here slam AN because of their marketing, flashiness, and over-priced products. While I'm not arguing with those people and I'm sure I could get the same results for less money, I would still recommend the base line to anyone who wants to give it a shot.

The additives are where AN is kinda whack and seems to be a scam. Try the ph perfect base nutes on their own and grab maybe one or two additives to test out per grow. Buying all of their shit seems to just be a waste of money.

I was using Fox Farm for a few years and have recently switched over to Dyna-Gro with no complaints. My wife uses AN nutes (Sensi Grow A&B) on a bean plant and she is having all sort of deficiencies and I have yet to have one. We are friends with our local hydro store owners and they use AN nutes on their plants and it's always nothing but headaches with their plants.

If you are having good results with Fox Farm, why change it?

You admit they are over priced yet somehow justify buying their base products? The way I see it anything over priced is a waste of money but hey whatever works for you!

AN.. Eh been there done that. Get waaaay better results for way less using jacks and Epsom salt. O and guess what?? Even though it doesn't say it on the bag my pH had still been perfect.

I'm growing a plant right now with MiracleGro Tomato[1]. I was surprised that its pH comes out perfect with my tap/RO mixed to 150ppm to start. I stopped pHing some time ago using Grow More Sea Grow. I hadn't used my two pH pens since then. I cleaned, soaked, rehydrated, calibrated. I was surprised: 6.5 for MiracleGro Tomato. :)

$6 (US) for 188 1tsp/gal feedings. Three cents per "Perfect pH" feeding. :)

[1] Just to see how it works with one product, no supplements. Fun to test my skills, and sometimes a new grower wants to see if they can grow without getting too deep into nutrients, mail order, 5lb tubs, etc. $6 and they're ready to grow.
