Help Stealth Box Suggestions?

Hi All - I am new to this forum so forgive me in advance for any stupid questions I may ask! Well after a long absence of growing I've recently got the bug again, now when I say I was previously growing I mean just growing a few plants outdoors - chuck the seed in the ground and hope for the best

I am considering getting a small stealth setup for my aparment as I live in a rented apartment so need to keep it quite discreet. i would be happy with 3-4 plants. Now I would love to spend the time building a small DYI stealth setup but with a little one just born and work I simply dont have the time at the moment so I am thinking of buying an off the self setup thats good to go with little to no setup needed.

To that end I was hoping to get some advice from people on the forum who may have bought an off the self stealth box or know who is known for making good setups online? As mentioned I am only really looking to grow 3-4 plants - 1 or 2 boxes no more than say 2 feet high. A setup that doesnt take up too much realestate. Also what strain of plant would people suggest that maybe more forgiving for a newbie grower?

Any advise on systems types/makers, what to look out for, consideration or type of seeds what be greatly appreciated!!!!

Well, I know you said you don't have time for DIY, but just as a suggestion: If you have like an empty closet or something, there is hardly any work involved, Stick a extension lead at the top and plug in some CFL's (easy), make a hole either side for PC fans that can be quiet for ventilation, reflective is useful but you could just spray white. Chuck in a pot with soild+seed and you're good to go! If you have somewhere big enough I would recommend hydro, I am about to start my hydro setup inside a PC case. This pc case was from mrgrowpro and was allready built with everything and very adjustable, I am going to have 2 plants on the go at once, but one will always be half the age of the other as it will be planted half way through the others cycle; therefore I will be able to harvest more commonly. I would suggest that for your situation as well! You might like 2 of these PC cases (massive) if you're willing to spend, or you could get a tent, I have no experience with tents but hear they work well placed in closets for stealth.

Boxes are greatly over priced but if you must get 1 I would go with BC Northern Lights.

You can make a tent for like 50 bucks and it'll take a week tops if you only work an hr a day on it. Very simple and easily customized. No more a diy than setting up a camping set really
Or buy a premade box from walmart or ikea for 20-50 bucks and do the same as RRain but in the box. Its honesly worth the time to diy cause a pc will cost you 250-350 a case when you can build a ghetto one for under 35 bucks. Mine cost <$100 and took a total of 2-3 hrs from start to finish.

I'm just like you, just caught that bug again lol. I currently have limited resources so I decided to build a cabinet just last week. The one I built is 18" deep x 4' tall x 3.5' wide, the grow space isn't 4' because I put a decoy box at the top which opens with a lid on top filled with clothes in case anyone got a bit nosy and the two doors only open from the bottom where there's about a half inch of space. I went to Home Depot and got 2 sheets of cheap osb (chip board) and 2 16' 2x4s. just have all of your measurements and they will do all the cutting for you. just keep in mind what you learned in high school that once you have the frame you have to add a bit more to the outside so it all lines up right and doesn't look like crap. The box its self cost me about $65 including a roll of reflective insulation, and took about 4 hours from the time I left for home depot till it was up and running.

Hi All - Rain, big, bleezy, doctorj - thanks for all the feedback advice. Take the feedback on realise I am gonna pay abit of a premium for a premade so its food for thought re thinking about DYI.. Does anyone have thoughts on strain of plant I should go for? Is there any advice on a strain that is abit more forgiving than others?

You should probably just start with bagseed so you can be sure you will have a successful grow and wont waste money on seeds that may or may not survive

Don't know about any particular hardy strains, but I would say work out your plan first just so you know where you are going to grow and the dimensions, then choose your strain. Nirvana and Attitude seed bank both provide quite a bit of information about each strain, unlike some other seed banks. Both have functions to search for specific strains i.e. short flowering time, small flowering stretch, medical etc.

Any lowriders strain is going to be short and auto-flowers tend to be shorter kinda. Hardy I don't know about though, I mean it is a weed right?

Thanks for all your feedback guys appreciated , might be a stupid question why does it seem that most ppl growing in grow boxes small ones at least go 12/12 rather than 18/6 is it because they are trying to get them to flower early because of the size of the grow aerea, sorry if it a noob question!

People say its quicker turn around but the plant will veg for 2-3 weeks anyways so might as well go 18/6 and get the extra light. Plus you don't want to top or fim after you start flower so you would only be able to lst it. But the advantage is a smaller plant due to lack of light.

For most people it is because space is a limiting factor, but I, on the other hand, built a small one out of extra materials left over from my 3.5 x 3.5 x 1.5 just so I could have a flower box to supplement my other grows which will take 5 months start to finish
