HELP! small white bugs in my soil

I've been having these small white bugs in my soil. they crawl around and i see them all over the place when i water my plant. they are very small and i figured they might larvae hatching into a gnat or something. ive seen small flying insects, that i think are gnats, around the plant as well.

i have tried thuricide, an organic pesticide thats supposed to stop them from breeding.
i mixed a few teaspoons in a gallon of water and watered with that 3 days in a row and it didnt kill them. not sure what else to try

any ideas?

Sounds like Fungus Gnats. Check out https://www.rollitup.org/view.php?pg=faq&cmd=article&id=521 and it'll give you some ideas. In addition to those suggestions Hydrogen Peroxide works also to kill them (kills good bacteria in the soil to though ). Do NOT use it straight, find the ratio somewhere (I forgot what it is...)

fine sand over the top of your soil, thats how I got rid of mine.

how long did the sand take to kill the gnats? i have 2-3 weeks left before i harvest

It is hard to say, because once you put the sand on your soil it is VERY hard to see them. I Believe it works fast, but am not 100% sure. I put sand on my soil and then transplanted maybe a week or 2 after into a 5 gal bucket, and did not have to put the sand back on top of the soil after the transplant, no more bugs yay.
