I will never ever use Fox Farm's product's again. The last grow I had Fungu's nat's and Springtail's. Now I have Springtail's and a massive PH problem using no nute's. I went to a local Nursery today ( Not my Grow Store ) Wink Wink, and they were an older couple in their late 70's and agreed Fox Farm's product's are way overrated. You can get better results with sterilized soil with an addition of natural nute's ( I forget the Nute's name ) but I will be taking their word this time. No more Internet Fox Farm Hype for me.
most likely you have had the gnats before. FF is pasturized so you shuld not be getting bugs from it. IM going to bet you are over watering and that keeps your RH high. Gnats love this environment.

I did not have knat's with the last batch. The new batch had Springtail's though. Just had problems with PH , Nitrogen Toxicity and so forth. I'm switching brand's.

i have done my last 2 grows in FFOF start to finish, the first grow I got nitrogen tox really bad, but it was not the fault of ffof, it was mine, I did ad a small amount of nutes, a few waterings at 4 weeks like "everyone" said I should do, then BAM the dreaded HOOK ,, ,, my last grow ( the second one) I used FFOF mixed with domolite lime and some happy frog organic nutes added, and I did nothing but tap water only the whole way,, I got 8 ounces dried from only 200 watts of cree cob lights,,
I do not see nitrogen tox in your plants, yes one of your leafs has a single hook,, your leafs are drooping pretty bad, so yes on the high humidity or your just over watered,, do you have a moisture meter or a humidity gauge?,,
stick your finger down into the dirt, let it dry out before you water again, its gets pretty easy to see the leaf droop differance between over and underwatered, and the droop is worse on over water,
there are several threads on RIU where guys use nothing but ffof and have fantastic grows,, generally we dont clone or put little ones in ffof as its kinda hot, some mix ffof with Fox Farms Happy frog soil to cool it slightly,, but I use ffof full strength,,
let me know if i can help you more,

well, most bumpy rides can be prevented as we learn to adjust things, the few drops of nutes could easily sent little ones over the edge with ffof, ,, fox farms was meant to be water only for weeks,
on my grows with ffof I have had bugs,, but it was not the fault of the soil on mine,, I had mites 2 grows ago, but they rode in on the clones, and it was nothing that mitacide like floromite could not take care of easliy and it sure did take care of it,
knats and other buzz kills are easily taken care of with some azamax, ,, azamax is cheap and you can either spray it on,, or what I do and others is a soil drench, if there are any bugs in the soil,, azamax takes care of them
on future grows, I will be spraying and soil drenching right from the start, even if I dont see any bugs, its just a preventative,, do it early in veg and you wont see critters the whole way,, many people take such insurance measures and dont mention it,,
I have a friend who is on his 5 or 6th grow now with fox farms soils,, he tends to prefer the happy frog, so he can ad nutes later in flower,, but all of his grows have rocked it,, sure he had some bugs and even powdery mildew,, and those were taken care of easy with some sprays,, cant blame powdery mildew on the soil,, its an airborne

i should point out, that if nutes are given to ffof it can take about 3 weeks to wash all the salts out,, I dont like "flusing" organic soils, because it washes out all of the good nutes also,, then people ad nutes back, if a person does that then why not just grow in coco air, or straight perolite like hempy buckets,

and I was merely trying to help ?

I've been growin this plant for more than 40 years but what do I know ?
40 years experience? You should be a moderator for this site with that much knowledge. Could you please help me with an issue?
This is my second tent garden and the firt time I had issues with nats. I scrubbed the tent and equipment inside and out. After 4 days of the lights being back on I have nats again in my new grow. I'm using FFOG with 5 gallon phat sacks. i don't understand where I went wrong

Your soil has larvae in it, tis common and why I grow in peat, there are several known treatments with diatomaceous earth being most popular with organics

I don't have 40 years experience but I got rid of my nats with yellow stcky traps and neem oil. Now the Springtails are impossible to get rid of, they swam around and laughed at me in a pool of neem oil. LOL . You can also try Mosquito dunks. But definitely get those yellow sticky card traps up ASAP to catch the fliers. Also let the soil dry out between waterings.

I am still searching for the best soil, my country has very few soil products and the ones I've tried have been terrible... fuckin wood chips and even a fucking shoelace in my soil... so maybe coco potting soil is the way to go for me as that one of the only products available here in South Africa. 3rd World Problems.

Thank you I will be picking that up very soon. A supply shop near my home has it in stock. This will be my last season with FFOO

The soil looks a little dry now except under the little domes I have over the seedlings. Should I mist water around the domes? I know these Phat Sacks dry out quickly because I had to water every two days last season.
