HELP PLEASE - plants not drinking water 3 weeks from harvest

Hi, I need your help please. My plants have stopped drinking water 3 weeks from harvest (its 2.5 weeks away now). The leaves are also all turning yellow (they look much yellower than the pics show). It is taking them 6-7 days or longer to dry out. I flushed them two days ago, and that was 5 days after their last watering and they were still very wet. I am going to leave them until they completely dry and give them a small amount of water - if they manage to recover.
This happened during my last grow, but it was due to heat stress I believe and due to the LED lights being too close to the buds - the leaves ended up all getting burnt/brown look and some fox tails grew on the buds. The plants just stopped drinking water and the buds would not mature anymore. That was during very hot summer, now I am growing in Autumn and it is cooler. I have had two very successful grows before that and they were in summer when it was hot. I have been so careful with this grow after the last time, and I have no idea what could have caused this.
I've researched the issue and can't come up with anything, except to flush the plants (done) and only give them a little water in future. I was wondering if some pathogen may have got into my tent that is causing these issues, as I was surprised when it happened the last time after never having an issue before.

- Watering - I had been giving them 1 litre of water every 4-5 days (when they dried) and they're in about 5 litre pots
- Nutrients - organic - used Professor's Organic nutrients, and Bio Vega at the start. Also used compost teas and Great White mycorrhizae.
- Temperature - 24-29 degrees celscius. Warm, but I've grown in much hotter conditions with no issues.
- Lightning - probably been a bit too cautious and kept it around 20 inches away from the plants (I've moved it to 16 inches now). They are a bit small due to that.
- Humidity - around 50%
- Roots - I took one plant out and they are white and healthy. They fill the pot but are not root bound.

Those are pretty big pots for how little the plants are. Also sounds like you are giving a lot of nutrients for such little plants. What is your medium?

They also look about 5-6 weeks from harvest. You harvest when a plant is mature. If a pack of seeds says "8 weeks seed to harvest" forget that, its wrong 99% of the time.

Thanks for responding. Well they are indicas so they grow smaller, and I only keep them in veg for 3 weeks. They were about the same size the last time I grew this strain successfully, but the buds were bigger. The roots have filled the pots, so pot size is not an issue. The pots are only about 5 litres as well. The medium is coco coir.

Im not talking about size, im talking about the maturity of the buds. They are super young still. The hairs should be mostly if not all orange at harvest, you are probably 2.5 weeks away from having any orange hairs. Those buds have a lot of swelling to do yet.

They want more food.

I don’t grow in Coco but I thought you weren’t supposed to let coco dry out You said you Normally water one liter every 4-5 days when its dry??? I agree with Padawan, they look hungry. 3 weeks in veg in a 5 liter pot they should be root bound. I think you may have been holding them back with your watering practices. Also looks like 4-5 weeks to go to finish.

Hi, thanks for the replies. The ph when watering is always 6.0 for coco coir, but I'm gonna get a soil test kit to check that as well. I don't think they're being underwatered. I know it doesn't sound like I'm watering very often, but its because they have been staying very wet for weeks, and the pots are never completely dry when I water. They dont have any of the signs of underwatering. I think its overwatering if anything, and that may be why the leaves are turning yellow. But I'm still not sure what has been causing them to drink so much less water, unless its because I've been giving them too much compounding the issue.

Like I said I don’t grow in coco but my understanding is that you keep coco wet all the time. It’s not like a soil grow where you cycle wet dry. It’s wet all the time.
If you’re only watering and fertilizing infrequently that would explain all the symptoms, Pale, slow, small.

Dude go get some AN or CB or FF coco-nutrient trio and mix as directed for 1 gallon, then add another cup or two of water to dilute slightly, and feed your plants! You also need some heavy cal mag in coco....it is not soil and has literally no nutrients, and is considered hydro...which means if you dont feed or water your plants die. And PS, you can NOT overwater in coco coir, it should always be damp and it will always run off what doesnt soak in.
