Help! Plant Found in my Backyard!

I think he just means you twist and bend them. You don't want to turn the insides to pulp, exactly. A better analogy is how you build muscle, as you stretch or bend the stem to one side or the other, it will start to feel like the stem isn't as stiff as it was when you started. Thats enough. Its not necessary to damage your plants in any way. When you stretch them, tiny tears are created in the fibers and veins that run up and down the stalk. The idea is that by doing this, the stem must repair itsekf, and gets thicker, stronger, and better at transporting nutrients and other good stuff around because the stalk is just bigger. If you are doing anything that the plant hasn't recovered from the next day, then it's my opinion that you have done too much. I think of it as yoga for my plants.

I've never tried twisting, just concentrated bending, however that sounds like a good idea if you don't overdo it. If you never cause very much damage, it won't add any time to your veg period, just fatten the stem up so that when you are ready to flower you have a thick stem to bring up everything important.

To the person who posted this thread. Wow! What a score! Thats a good veg fertilizer. When the plant starts to show sex, if its a girl you are gonna want to use something like NPK 5-30-15 for the first part of flowering. If you have the resources, switch to something like NPK 0-30-10 when you have about a month to harvest. This will make the fan leaves turn yellow (from lack of nitrogen, its ok though) as the plant draws on it's own energy to boost trich production. This is a natural process, so don't worry. At about this time, if you are able, ad something like MagiCal, something with a magnesuim and calcium boost in it. These minerals aid your buds in trich/crystal production, and will also make your buds a little bigger. Also, you are gonna wanna stop using fertilizers or supplements of any kind for at least 2 weeks to flush the nutrients out of the root system. Just use water for these 2 weeks, no additives. Otherwise you can taste the fertilizers in your smoke! Blech! Also, you shouldn't fertilize every time you water, rather like every third or fourth time. But if your mom is taking care of all that, then you don't even need to worry about it! just make sure theres no nutes for 2 weeks before harvest, and you might want to try some of that stuff i mentioned about a month or a little more before harvest. You will probably only need to use it with two or three applications, but it really does help with bud development. These are personal opinions based on experience, I hope it was of some help. Good luck bro.

ok to start yes i did meen twist iit does basicaly the same thing as joe said but it is a definate twist , i`m sure there are different methods. thats mine it works wel for me. you can start this when they are about 6 inches or so if it has helthier stalk and stems do it sooner, there is a fine line on how much to do but ya it should be able to recover quickly, try doing it twice a day if to much, once a day. you do need to break the pulp slightly or its not enough. try it on a single plant for now. i will try and find a link or something for you.

for the nutes yes definately always start at 1/4 strenght mix. first timers i would even recomend taking that mixed nute solution and dillute almost half after with straight water if you dont have a ph or ppm pen. as far as the soil having nutes in it already and being able to handle a stronger mix i dont believe that because if the nutes that were already there weren`t used up it will be to much and lock the soil up. better to stick with the 1/4 strenght nute mix, and that goes for every stage of nutting.

are you leaving them outdoor to flower, if so they will flower when the sun is 12 day and 12 hours dark. the process where i am begins on summer solstice ( june 21 first day of summer in bc). they will start at about 15 hours of daylight and show flowers a couple weeks later.

Sorry to contradict you on this, but I am pretty sure that the Summer Solstice (June 21) is actually the longest day of the year. Technically that was 2 days ago, Today the sun rose at 4:12 AM and will set at 8:11 PM, so that is 16 hours of sunshine and only 8 hours of darkness. That isn't enough to start flowering. The actual day that is technically 12/12 lighting is September 21, but it can differ by a few days or a week depending on where you live. Outdoors, Marijuana plants will start flowering before it is exactly 12/12, because the natural outdoor lighting scheduled gradually changes over a long period of time. It won't TECHNICALLY be 12/12 until the Autumnal Equinox, September 21, but because the change is gradual, lighting is often close enough to 12/12 by sometime in late July or early August that your plants will realize it's time and start flowering. This is why some outdoor Indicas can actually be finished by the time that ACTUAL 12/12 is reached on September 21. Heres a link giving sunrise and sunset times for Seattle Washington, 2008: http://bimedia.ftp.clickability.com/fishwebftp/KOMO/sunset_table.jpg

Also, I want to show that it is not necessary to actually physically damage stems in order to get nice thick stem growth. Faze, the purple veins you are seeing are natural, and not a direct result of the bending and twisting. Those would have developed anyway, but by lightly bending and twisting you can perhaps make more "juice" flow through them. Also, plants can experience growth spurts and it could be related to other things like the increased amount of sunshine that is recieved around this time of the year. Bending and twisting will help strengthen your stem, and eventually make it larger so more nutrients can travel through it, however nature usually does a pretty good job of this on its own. I am gonna post a couple pictures, if you dont mind, showing how thick stems can be with VERY minimal bending/twisting. I have only been bending these, and only about 2 times a week. I do it when I water so the plant has the water needed to transport nutrients to heal the microscopic tissue tearing created by the stretching excercises. These plants are about a month and 2 weeks old. I took pics of both my shortest and my tallest so you can see that pretty thick stems can be created without making the plant have to use extra energy and time to heal. For me, any thing that makes the plant actually look injured, and takes noticeable time away from growing to repair is too much damage. Some people have different ideas about this, to each his own. I just want you to know you can get great results without doing it twice a day, like I said, I only do it about twice a week. Anyway, heres a couple pictures if its ok:

1) Bottom of my shortest plant, using standard size Bic lighter as a reference.
2) Middle of my shortest plant, main stem about half as thick as the lighter, maybe a little more.
3) Whole shortest plant for reference, It's only 9" tall.
4) Bottom of my tallest plant, same lighter.
5) Where the tallest plant comes out of the ground, nearly as thick as the lighter, lol.
6) Middle of tallest plant, similar thickness to shortest and pretty much all my plants.
7) Whole tallest plant for reference.

(If the poster of this thread doesn't wan't these pics here I will take them down.) I just wanted to show you don't need to actually injure your plants to get a nice stem. I hope you take my advice, and don't over-work or injure your plants. I'm not trying to be cross, but I am a 3rd generation marijuana farmer and gardener in general, and this method of seriously hurting plants so they grow back stronger isn't used by anyone who know's what they are doing. This method has popped up in recent years online and is, as of right now, scientifically untested.

Also, comparing plant and human anatomy doesn't make for a good comparison, so I try to avoid it. Since everyone seems to do that on this topic, I see it like this: When someone want's to strengthen up their arm, they lift weights. This causes microscopic tears in the muscle tissue, which are bigger when re-healed. They do not break their arm bone, or slice into the muscle tissue, because this is not how you go about making stronger arms. I think it's not the best analogy, but it works for me. Plants ARE different, so maybe after it heals it looks bigger, but I just want to know if there is any scientific proof to prove that injuring plants actually helps them. It's my opinion that when done the wrong way, alot of the extra tissue in the stem could just be scar tissue, and actually hinder growth. Check out these pics and see what is possible with only a little little stretching/twisting. I just don't want you to injure your only plant, bro. I draw the line at actually hurting the tissue.
:peace: out.

I wanted to ask b/c now its really getting wider. the leaves are sorta pushing the plant away from the house an the whole plant is tilted... i took a few leaves off the side nearest the crib so it can stand straight... is that ok?:joint:

like he said everybody has there way i`ve been doing this for a long time and it works for me. pictures in here that i have posted seem to prove that. what works for me may not work for the next guy, i was just telling what i do. but i geusse i dont know what i`m doing, lol ,and i geusse i worded my statement on the summer thing wrong i was trying to say roughly the same ( had people yaking at me in the same room) i never said the twisting caused the purple.
