alright. to start heres my setup. i have a 5 gallon reservoir with two plants growing in rockwool surrounded by hydroton. i have a drip system that waters them at 2 gallons per hr. for 15 min. 4 times a day. im using the general hydroponics flora series of nutrients at levels recommended for seedlings. lighting is 1 65 watt cfl supplemented with 2 14 watt cfls. i was told that when they're this young, its alright to leave the lights on 24 hours a day (i think this might be the problem) i didnt get my seeds from a seedbank. over the past few months if i got a bag of weed that was decent and had seeds i added em to a jar. these plants came from 2 seeds randomly selected from that jar, so they're probably not the same species. one of the plants is doing pretty well, but the other has leaves that are kinda shriveled. both are about 2 weeks old. does anyone have any ideas? sorry if the pictures aren't great, all i had was my phone.

I've never personally used the 24 on system I have been using 18/6 and 12/12 , but I'm a soil grower. In order to actually draw on the nutrients the plant is receiving it needs some time in the dark. This is true of any kind of plant, as long as it's able to conduct photosynthesis it will simply plow on with that, night time gives it a chance to use the sugars and nutes it has stored.
All of my plant's noticeable growth has occurred during it's dark cycle.

...as I said though, I'm in soil, it may be different for you hydro guys.

thanks for the advice. i did some more research and it seems like people are having good luck with all kinds of light cycles. i don't have any money for another timer right now so ill worry about that when flowering time comes around. im still boggled on this shriveled leaf thing. as far as i can tell both plants are growing under the same conditions, so maybe its a genetics thing. do some plants handle watering frequency differently? this problem existed before i added nutrients to the water, so maybe my problem plant was just hungry. nutrients were added two days ago. ill post more pictures later if anything changes. has anyone heard of something like this happening before? would foliar feeding help at all?

just an update of how things are going, nutrients are the same, ive got the lights on an 18/6 cycle now instead of 24/0. also added one of those sharper image ionic breeze things to help with the smell. my health plant is doing pretty well, its amazing how fast these things grow when you look at pictures. in three days i can see a big change. it seems like the plant with the shriveled leaves is doing alright, its just growing slower than the other one. i dont know whats chenged really, i added the light timer last night so i dont think that that has had any effect really yet. anyway, heres pictures. what do you guys think of the healthy plant, is this about where it should be after 2.5 weeks starting from seed?

Hard to call the size, but they are progressing and haven't died , so that can't be too bad.

There is actually a great article in this month's issue of Skunk magazine regarding mutations in genetics, and the earlier pic of the 'problem child' looked just like one in the magazine.

I have had similar experiences. Seems like pH can make leaves go all skrewy like that, along with the genetics. I had a few Greenhouse Church (which are very finiky to grow and especially to clone) that displayed similar characteristics from the beginning, but after they got big (these got BIG), things evened out some.

I should note that I am doing an organic and hydro combo, growing in a custom mixed soil based medium.

(1st post BTW:clap:)
