So its getting about that time to change the nutrients and was wondering what the best way to go about it was now that i have roots hanging down into the water. Normally i would just take the top off and then dump everything out and scrub the tub. But i dont want to take the roots out of the water and damage them. so I was thinking should i just use the water pump to pump all the water out and then just dump new in. Do i need to scrub the tub? Any suggestions on the best way to go about this?

You wont damage the roots. Do exactly what you had planned. Get a bucket set your net pot lid on the bucket do your cleaning and re fill and just put the plant back. Trust me the roots will love the extra air they get. If you are super anal about it than just mist your roots every 5 minutes while you do your res change and clean your stuff.

Do you have an extra empty bucket? Move the netpot/lid to the empty bucket and let the roots hang in there while you clean and change the res.

I prep a second bucket first, drop the plant in and take first bucket to scrub and prep for next res change. Just rotate the buckets is the easiest way.

I use a hand bilge pump to drain my rez. my plants are SCROGged in DWC so I can't just pull them out.

Here's a link to the one I bought on Amazon: Bilge pump Cost me almost $30 but it's been invaluable.

A little shopping could save you some $.
