Help needed with ballast.

Hello everyone, I am in need of some help. I am using a sun system 1000 watt HPS ballast right now and the cord I have for it is getting so hot it is melting outlets. I am very concerned with that and my friend gave me this new ballast. In the instructions on the front of it, it shows "E lamps" between the ballast and the light. I am not sure what that is and was wondering if it is age to attach the ballast directly to the light fixture without said "E lamps" in between the two.
Thank you for the help and I am very anxious about getting the other one out of there ASAP as it is a major fire danger. Picture of new ballast included.

Thats just the odd pronged adaptor that goes from the ballast and then to the socket of your light. When I replaced one of my 400's I had to go out and buy the socket with the cord because my old magnetic ballasts ran directly to the socket and didnt unplug. In other words, that ballast you just got has to plug into a corded socket with the end being that odd pronged shape.
You might be needin this ?

Ohhhhh! I see what I'm looking at now
Thank you so much for the quick reply. Looks like the same cord on both. I feel a lot better having that fire hazard unplugged!

I also just read that some older HPS bulbs will explode if you try to use a digital ballast on them. I have had my HPS bulb for many years. Maybe 8 or so? Or more possibly.
So I have no idea about the model number or anything on it.
Do you think I should go get a new bulb in case?
